This year, five judges came together to evaluate the nominations for Grow Opportunity‘s Canada’s Top Grower Award. The nominees included 23 master growers and directors of cultivation from coast to coast.
David Kjolberg, Mohyuddin Mirza, and Jayson Goodale were joined by two first-time Top Grower Award judges — Stacie Hollingworth, master grower at Safari Flower Co., and George Dickinson, founder of CannaPro and co-founder of Growhaus Supply.
By the end of September, three finalists were chosen. They conducted virtual facility tours for the panel of judges who experienced the finalists’ operations first hand while having any remaining questions answered.
Alexandre Gauthier, director of cultivation at Origine Nature — Saint-Agathes-des-Monts, Que.-based licensed producer — was chosen as the winner of the award on the basis of leadership and innovation, consistency of product, profitability, passion and work culture.
Gauthier identified four core values he believes led he and his team to success. He also presented insights on market trends and predictions about what might be in store for the Canadian cannabis industry in the coming months and years.
