According to Newsweek, Depp’s bodyguard, who appeared virtually, was asked about what drugs the actor took and how each substance appeared to affect his mental state and demeanour.

Asked what non-prescription drugs he witnessed Depp using, the guard told the court marijuana and cocaine (the comments begin at about 53:41 of the YouTube video posted by Law & Crime Network, which is broadcasting the trial.)

Asked how many times he has seen Depp consume cannabis, he responded “too many times to count… I mean daily,” as Depp can be seen stifling a laugh.

Asked about Depp’s demeanour when using marijuana, he noted, “chill, for a lack of a better word. Mellow, yeah, I don’t know how else to describe it. Just super mellow.”

Of the times the guard saw Depp use cocaine, or known of him consuming it, “I feel like it levels him out. I haven’t noticed any difference when he’s used it.”

The guard further noted he has seen the actor use cocaine twice and witnessed Depp drinking alcohol, “like marijuana, too many times to count. Pretty regularly.”

Asked about how many times he has seen the actor drunk, the bodyguard noted that other than the times “he would fall asleep on the couch, sitting up with his boots on, other than that Mr. Depp handles his liquor very well.”

As for his demeanour when drinking, he responded it, too, was “chill” and “super mellow.”

Per Unilad, the bodyguard noted he has never witnessed Depp abuse Heard.

The trial at the Fairfax County Circuit Courthouse is part of a $64 million lawsuit Depp filed against Heard for allegedly libelling him in a 2018 opinion piece in The Washington Post, in which she wrote about domestic abuse, although she did not cite Depp by name.

Blast reports the actor’s talent manager Jack Whigham recently testified that he had a tough time getting Depp any big movie roles after the op-ed was released.

Heard launched a $128 million countersuit claiming that the actor had assaulted her several times after he had consumed drugs or alcohol.

According to Newsweek, another security guard testified last week that Depp used different substances, including cannabis and alcohol. “He’s got a very high tolerance for any substance,” the publication quotes that bodyguard as saying.

The most recent bodyguard’s “mellow” characterization is somewhat at odds with Heard’s contention that Depp picked a fight with her one morning, causing the 58-year-old actor to be late to arrive on set.

While Depp was on the stand earlier in the trial, Heard’s counsel presented two photographs as evidence, including one displaying a full glass of what looks to be whiskey and thin white lines said to be cocaine. She claimed the star used both cocaine and drank whiskey before starting the argument.

After taking the stand during his testimony earlier in the trial, Depp told the court he was there because of “quite heinous and disturbing” allegations brought by Heard.

“It just didn’t need to go in that direction as nothing of the kind had ever happened,” he argued at the time, adding he felt the need to confront the accusations for both himself and his children.
