Two men from New York have been charged in relation to the seizure.

The two men, aged 22 and 24, are residents of New York. They were released on an undertaking, a type of release that is received when a judge approves bail, and are scheduled to appear in court next month in Cornwall.
In February, a report from the CBSA detailed that cannabis product seizures had increased dramatically over the first two quarters of fiscal 2021-2022.
More than 10 million grams of cannabis products were confiscated over that period, compared to 6.7 million grams in the first two quarters of the previous fiscal year.
Along with the cannabis, seizures of fentanyl and other opioids have increased, while seizures of cocaine and heroin have decreased.
A 2019 report from U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) found that the amount of cannabis seized at the Canada-U. S. border increased in the year following federal legalization by roughly 75 per cent.
A CBP spokesperson characterized the increase as an “uptick” and said that the number of cannabis seizures varies by year by year.
Under Canadian law, it is illegal to bring cannabis across the border, either into or out of the country. On the U.S. side, Canadians caught with bud at the border face the possibility of seizure, fines, arrest, denial of entry and a lifetime ban.
