Police in Newfoundland and Labrador want to help find the owner of nearly 2 pounds of misplaced cannabis.

On October 15, the Lewisporte RCMP in Newfoundland and Labrador say they received a report of property found in a ditch off of Route 340 in the northern part of Newfoundland.

The property in question is more than 850 grams (1.9 pounds) of cannabis. RCMP say they are waiting for the owner to claim it.

The only information available on the find is a tweet from RCMP Newfoundland and Labrador account, which characterizes the cannabis as being “illicit”.

As is the case in all of Canada, it is only legal to possess up to 30 grams of cannabis in public in Newfoundland and Labrador. Newfoundlanders and Labradorians can grow up to four cannabis plants at home, although they can only be grown indoors. There is no private possession limit for cannabis in the province.

The minimum age to buy or possess cannabis in Newfoundland and Labrador is 19 years.
