Called re+Play, the brand founded by Harrington, renowned trainer Joe Abunasser and Dr. Sanford Kunkel, was developed in partnership with Avicanna.

“We’re very excited to work with our partners at Avicanna to bring our powerful line of performance recovery-based topicals to Canada,” Harrington, CEO of Harrington Wellness, said in a statement from Avicanna. It is also Harrington Health’s first sports-focused, THC-free line of functional products.

In development since 2019, initial product offerings include a muscle rub, which combines 500 milligrams of pure CBD with complementary natural active ingredients to offer a warming sensation upon application; as well as a total body cream and foot and ankle cream. The body cream has 250 mg of CBD, while the foot and ankle cream combines 500 mg of CBD with soothing colloidal oatmeal, antimicrobial tea tree and spearmint essential oils to provide a cool but gentle sensation on feet.

All topicals in the line use “Avicanna’s proprietary and evidence-based deep tissue technology for cannabinoid delivery and have been curated with the support of Harrington Wellness’ deep understanding of the needs of professional athletes,” reports Avicanna. The company is focused on cannabinoid research, development and evidence-based products and offers pharmaceutical-grade cannabis products with CBD and THC under the RHO Phyto brand.

The newly available products represent the culmination of the combined knowledge of scientists, athletes, doctors and certified athletic trainers, reports Avicanna.

Inspired by the athletic and sports community, the company notes that re+Play is currently available across adult-use channels in Alberta and is set to launch in Ontario and other provinces during the first quarter of next year. The brand will also be available, expected in early January, through medical channels in partnership with Medical Cannabis by Shoppers.

Last month, Avicanna announced that Harrington’s company — Viola, named after his grandmother — had started making some products available across the country through Shoppers’ online platform.

Harrington is among a long list of NBA greats who have delved into cannabis-related endeavours off the court, including most recently Ben Wallace, Chris Webber, Kevin Durant, Allen Iverson and Earvin “Magic” Johnson.
