These are the brightest minds in cannabis growth, sharing experiences, best practices and goodwill amongst growers. And this camaraderie will come in handy as the push for industry standardization grows. They’ll talk about a year of challenges, adjusting to regulations, and offer insight into how Health Canada can adjust its role to promote better growing and cannabis quality. Many relationships were forged among growers at the last event, and it’s not far-fetched to see a future advocacy group forming over the lunch table.

In a business where the female plant is queen, it’s ironic that gender bias would exist at all. But an industry that continues to write its own rules has an opportunity to reject the “boys club” mentality and reward the contribution of women, tangibly through pay-equity and other issues, and attitudinally. This networking session is a coffee-fueled think-tank on how to facilitate the full participation of women in our workplaces.
Join our trained facilitators through a “pro-active solution-based” workshop designed to gather the collective wisdom of the room and generate applicable solutions for change. Helping to create a workplace where women are encouraged to apply and when engaged can participate fully. This networking breakfast allows female cultivators and entrepreneurs to share their experiences, challenges and successes with others in the cannabis business. There are inspirational stories to be heard, and relationships to forge.

Yes, there’ve been growing pains, but mostly there’s been growth, and busy – you might even say caffeinated – market activity. This breakfast session will offer market analysts who’ll make sense of a year in which raised capital doubled to more than $3.2 billion, while merger-and-acquisition deals almost tripled in number. These experts will analyze where this could lead, how the state-by-state rush to legalization in the U.S. will affect our commerce, and how the push-and-pull between big-players and small-players will play out. What new investment paths are the most promising? Is the big money in supply or retail? We’ve got answers over-easy.
We are bringing the best in cannabis growing minds together for a networking, idea-sharing, meeting of the minds luncheon. The idea of the inaugural and annual Grower’s Luncheon is to foster conviviality amongst growers. A panel of diverse growers will share their thoughts on some of their biggest challenges growing in a regulated system, share some of their trials and tribulations as they immersed themselves in their position, as well as share some their wishes on what Health Canada can do to better the growing experience and the quality of cannabis. The overall goal is to bring together a nationwide informal network of growers with a yet to be determined purpose – be it social, technical, or advocacy.

Speculators were following the money even before Canada’s recreational cannabis business began to take root. But now that major players have had time to flex their market muscles, analysts are already noticing strong trends. This session will track developments in the cannabis business in the U.S. and Canada, the most recent estimates of market size and growth, and the relationship between the large and small enterprises. Will the biggest companies seek to consolidate to restrict a rush of new competitors? What are the most promising areas of new investment? And what will it all mean to market suppliers? Moderator: Jay Rosenthal, Business of Cannabis
