Dr. Daniel Bear is a drugs policy researcher, with more than 15 years of experience conducting research on a variety of drug policy issues including, drugs education effectiveness, medical cannabis use, police enforcement of drugs laws, and policy responses to emerging drug issues. He is the Canadian co-lead researcher for the Global Cannabis Cultivation Research Consortium, a network of cannabis researchers in 18 countries focused on examining cannabis growing practices. In addition to his drugs focused work Dr. Bear has advised the UK’s Ministry of Justice on reducing use of force in prisons, and served as a member of the Ontario Parole Board. In his most recent research Dr. Bear conducted mixed methods research to understand how young people are making decisions about how and when to consume cannabis. Dr. Bear holds a Masters and PhD in Social Policy from the London School of Economics and Political Science, and is a Professor in the Faculty of Social and Community Services.
