Jami-Lee Baxter

Jami-Lee Baxter (Jami) is a proud member of the Six Nations of the Grand River Territory and currently
serves as the Chief Commissioner of the Six Nations Cannabis Commission (SNCC). In her leadership role
at the Commission, Jami-Lee brings a strong commitment to advancing community-focused governance,
ensuring that cannabis regulations align with the needs, values and sovereignty of Six Nations people.
Her leadership is grounded in the principles of public health, safety, environmental stewardship and
economic equity, with a special focus on empowering Indigenous communities to thrive in the growing
cannabis industry.

Jami’s diverse expertise extends beyond cannabis regulation, she also works as a dedicated advocate for
children, youth and families in the community through her supervisor role for survivors of domestic
violence, human trafficking and at-risk individuals. Her work reflects her deep commitment to social
justice, community healing and the safety of vulnerable people, particularly children and youth.

With a background rooted in community service, advocacy and cultural preservation, Jami believes that
economic empowerment and wellness must go hand in hand and her leadership at the Commission
reflects this integrated approach. Jami is committed to ensuring that Six Nations remains at the
forefront of sovereign, ethical cannabis regulation, while also promoting long-term economic
opportunity, community health and cultural integrity for generations to come.
