Sylvain Gaudreau
Sylvain Gaudreau is a horticulture professional, cannabis researcher, and author specializing in advanced and data-driven cultivation techniques. He is the author of Early Topping: An Alternative to Standard Topping That Increases Yield in Cannabis Production, and has written more than a dozen scientific and technical papers examining cannabis plant physiology, canopy management, yield optimization, and production efficiency.
Sylvain holds a Diploma in Horticulture with a specialization in cannabis production from the University of Guelph, where his training emphasized plant science, controlled-environment agriculture, and commercial-scale cultivation systems. He has worked in collaboration with Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières (UQTR) on multiple cannabis research initiatives, with a particular focus on cultivation methodologies, morphological responses, and applied production research relevant to licensed producers.
His research has played a direct role in the development and validation of innovative cultivation strategies designed to improve yield, plant uniformity, and resource efficiency while maintaining product quality and regulatory compliance. In recognition of his ongoing contributions to the field, Sylvain was nominated three times for Research of the Year at the Grow Up Expo, reflecting consistent peer and industry recognition of his work.
Through applied research, technical writing, and industry collaboration, Sylvain is committed to advancing evidence-based cultivation practices that strengthen Canada’s cannabis sector. His long-term objective is to help position Canada as the global leader in high-quality, science-driven cannabis production, bridging academic research with real-world commercial application.
