Mr. Weerasinga is a Sri Lankan-born entrepreneur and business professional who immigrated to Toronto at 16 before finding a home in Thunder Bay. With a strong educational foundation in Aerospace Manufacturing Engineering, International Business, and Marketing, he is a graduate of Confederation College and Lakehead University, and has plans to pursue an M.B.A.
In 2020, Mr. Weerasinga founded High Society Cannabis Co., launching with a single store and expanding to five locations across Northern Ontario—a testament to his entrepreneurial drive and strategic vision. He is also an active real estate investor, with a keen interest in community development and long-term economic growth.
From a young age, he gained hands-on experience across various industries, building deep expertise in customer service, supplier relations, and team leadership. Now rooted in Thunder Bay, Mr. Weerasinga is dedicated to growing businesses that serve and uplift the communities around him.
