Alberta-based SNDL reported an operating income loss of $112 million for its cannabis operations and net earnings of $4.9 million for its retail cannabis operations in 2023.
After calculating restructuring costs and asset impairments, the total adjusted operating loss for its cannabis operations was $52.4 million.
The newest annual report also shows $24.6 million in net earnings from SNDL’s alcohol businesses, for an operating income loss of $162.8 million for 2023. Part of this loss is attributed to restructuring charges of $19.6 million and goodwill impairment of $29 million.
Despite these losses, SNDL says it is well positioned in 2024, given its recent acquisition of The Valens Company Inc., the closing of its facility in Olds, Alberta, and the transition of its remaining cultivation activities to Atholville, New Brunswick, and manufacturing and processing activities in Kelowna, British Columbia.
SNDL’s cannabis operations include the operations of Valens from January 18, 2023, to December 31, 2023.
The company’s cannabis operations segment achieved a record net revenue of $87.1 million in 2023, a 96% increase from $44.4 million in 2022. Net revenue for the fourth quarter of 2023 was $26 million, up 111% from $12.3 million in the same quarter of the previous year.
Gross margin was negative $20.6 million in 2023, compared to negative $13.3 million in 2022. Gross profit for the fourth quarter of 2023 was negative $1.1 million, compared to negative $9.0 million in the fourth quarter of 2022. This 88% improvement in gross profit during the fourth quarter is largely attributable to the strategic decision to close the facility in Olds.
Countering its overall losses on its cannabis operations side, SNDL attributes its record results in revenue, gross profit, and cash flow within its retail cannabis segment in part to its data program.
With its 63% ownership interest in Nova Cannabis Inc., SNDL is Canada’s largest private-sector cannabis retailer, operating 187 locations under its four retail banners: “Value Buds”, “Spiritleaf”, “Superette”, and “Firesale Cannabis”.
As of March 21, 2024, SNDL had 85 Spiritleaf locations (21 corporate stores and 64 franchise stores), four Superette locations, two Firesale Cannabis stores, and 96 Value Buds stores.
Nova’s proprietary data licensing program generated revenue of $12.3 million in 2023, compared to $4.2 million in 2022, a 193% increase year-over-year.
SNDL reported record gross profit from its retail cannabis segment, with $73.7 million in 2023, or 25% of sales, compared to $47.3 million in 2022, or 23% of sales, a 56% increase year-over-year. Gross profit for its retail cannabis segment was $20.0 million, or 27% of sales, in the fourth quarter of 2023, compared to $15.7 million, or 23% of sales, in the fourth quarter of 2022, a 27% increase year-over-year.
New research suggests that hallucinogenic mushrooms that contain psilocybin may be useful in the treatment of conditions such as anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorders. Professor Bernard Lerer, the author of the study, stated that researchers were interested in psychedelics’ potential in managing treatment-resistant psychiatric disorders, including post-traumatic stress disorder, depression and even schizophrenia.
Lerer, a psychiatry professor and the director of Hebrew University’s Hadassah BrainLabs Center for Psychedelic Research, explained that many reports had proposed that using extracts from mushrooms that contain psilocybin could have effects that were quantitatively and qualitatively different from chemical psilocybin, which is what the research team focused on during the study. Current clinical research primarily uses chemically synthesized psilocybin versions. While it is effective, mushrooms that contain psilocybin have a mixture of nonpsychoactive and psychoactive compounds that influence their therapeutic effects.
The researchers have called this effect the entourage effect, suggesting that a psychedelic’s therapeutic potential may not be linked only to its primary active compound but also to other compounds present. For their research, the investigators used adult male mice, which were divided into three groups: those receiving chemically synthesized psilocybin, those receiving the mushroom extract and those receiving a control solution made of saline.
The researchers’ objective was to determine whether the existence of other compounds in the naturally derived extract could provide additional benefits that weren’t observed with chemically synthesized psilocybin. In order to evaluate the possible neuroplasticity induced by psilocybin as well as the immediate behavioral effects, the investigators used the head twitch response assessment. They also assessed the effects of the drugs on synaptic protein levels, noting considerable differences.
For starters, the levels of the PSD95, GAP43, SV2A and synaptophysin synaptic proteins increased in some brain regions when mushroom extract was administered. These proteins are needed for synaptic development, growth and plasticity, which suggests that the extracts may promote a stronger neuroplastic response in comparison to chemically synthesized psilocybin.
The investigators’ analysis also showed metabolic changes in the mice’s frontal cortex when the extract was administered, which suggests that it induced a metabolic state that could contribute to its therapeutic effects. Additionally, the researchers observed that both synthesized psilocybin and the mushroom extract brought on a head twitch response in the mice.
In its report, the team explained that there was no significant different in the behavioral response between either therapies, which indicates that the acute effects of both treatments were similar. The research’s findings were published in the “Molecular Psychiatry” journal.
The findings of this study are likely to attract the attention of start-ups such as Mind Medicine Inc. (NASDAQ: MNMD) (NEO: MMED) (DE: MMQ) that are focused on developing therapeutic formulations from hallucinogenic compounds such as magic mushrooms.

Lexaria, a global innovator in drug delivery platforms, highlighted results from its DIAB-A22-1 animal study, highlighting a 7% reduction in weight and a 19.9% reduction in blood glucose
With this success, Lexaria looks to kick off its WEIGHT-A24-1 animal study to examine diabetes and weight loss effects of its patented DehydraTECH(TM)-processed GLP-1 drugs and DehydraTECH-processed CBD
The study will comprise 12 arms and involve 72 animals. It will run for a total of 12 weeks
This study will build on previous studies that evidenced DehydraTECH’s potential to enable greater penetration of GLP-1 drugs into the brain tissue
Lexaria Bioscience (NASDAQ: LEXX), a global innovator in drug delivery platforms, just released highlights from its DIAB-A22-1 animal study on rodents. The study sought to explore the overall efficiency of its patented DehydraTECH(TM)-CBD formulation and its impact on conditions associated with diabetes. This 8-week study resulted in a 7% reduction in weight, as well as a 19.9% reduction in blood glucose, aligning with other study works in animals that pointed to the known anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties of CBD functioning to lessen some of the essential pathophysiological factors associated with diabetes (https://cnw.fm/IgNkX).
With the success of this study, Lexaria looks to kick off its WEIGHT-A24-1 animal study that will seek to examine diabetes and weight loss effects of DehydraTECH-processed glucagon-like peptide 1 (“GLP-1”) drugs and DehydraTECH-processed cannabidiol alone and in combination. This study will be executed by a Health Canada-licensed Canadian research laboratory and is set to commence within 45 days (https://cnw.fm/X7kIc).
This study will comprise 12 arms, 8 of which composition manufacturing has already been completed. Each arm is expected to be dosed for twelve weeks following an acclimation period, during which over 1,500 blood plasma samples will be collected from the total rat population of 72 animals for the purposes of detailed pharmacokinetic drug delivery analyses. The remaining study arms, 9 through 12, will kick off later due to some information outputs required from the other study arms.
With WEIGHT-A24-1, Lexaria looks to build on the success of its previous studies, including the goal of evidencing DehydraTECH’s potential to enable greater penetration of GLP-1 drugs into the brain tissue. Industry studies have evidenced that small peptide GLP-1R agonists activate a subset of GLP-1R-expressing neurons in the arcuate nucleus involved in weight loss (https://cnw.fm/L51iH). Having expressed its resolve to focus on GLP-1 studies for the 2024 calendar year, the WEIGHT-A24-1 study is one of several planned for 2024.
It highlights the company’s commitment to its course and creating shareholder value. It also reflects its commitment to further developing its DehydraTECH technology and opening it up to more areas of application that offer value to individuals and companies alike. As Lexaria looks to embark on three human studies this year, including a 12-week chronic dosing human study as well as long-term stability testing, WEIGHT-A24-1 will play an integral role in shaping their outcome and affirming the overall effectiveness of its DehydraTECH technology.

It’s the end of the day. You’ve finished everything you were meant to do. But the rest of the evening spreads out in front of you like an open and barren desert. Inside, you feel a sense of hollowness, and an oppressive weight grows within your chest.
The truth is, you feel lonely. Isolated. Disconnected.
Perhaps you lack meaningful and nourishing connections with others. Or maybe, no matter how hard you try, you never seem to feel connected or even safe around others due to trauma – and that makes connection feel seemingly impossible.
What do you do?
If you’re experiencing this, I want you first to know that you’re not alone. After all, we are living in a period of history where loneliness is so common it has been labeled an epidemic (in fact, the World Health Association has labeled it as a ‘public health problem’ and ‘global health risk’).
I’ve also had a lot of experience with feelings of loneliness due to my own history of trauma and how that has shaped my personality. As a loner (i.e., high-degree introvert) by nature, I prefer spending time alone, and people typically drain me.
But if you’re a loner or introvert like me, solitude can also have its dark side, that is, periods of loneliness and a lack of connection. The result is a feeling of sadness, emptiness, and sometimes even feelings of existential depression or anxiety.
While loneliness is indeed a social issue, I’m also going to show you why it’s also – and perhaps primarily – a spiritual problem, and I plan to present primarily spiritual solutions.
What is Spiritual Connection?
Spiritual connection is the sense of deep kinship and affinity we feel with our deeper selves, others, nature, and life as a whole. When we feel spiritually connected, our hearts are open, full, and in communion with the beauty, wonder, and magic of life.
Spiritual connection goes deeper than just physical, mental, or even emotional connection in that we feel a sense of wholeness and sometimes even oneness that transcends language. In other words, we find our place in the scheme of things.
Spiritual Disconnection and Loneliness – How Are They Connected?
Put simply, spiritual disconnection is a default in our society.
Anything that has the tendency of dulling, overwhelming, or utterly numbing our inner selves has the potential to create spiritual disconnection … and that’s, uh … pretty much everything.
Okay, maybe not everything. But just look at these ‘norms’ in society:
Workaholism
Overspending and overconsuming
Overeating junk foods and low-quality produce derived from our depleted soils
Feeding our minds junk information (think social media)
Stuffing large amounts of stimulants or depressants into our systems so that we can get through the day
Watching, playing, or listening to violent or addictive movies, games, TV shows, etc.
You get the picture.
And I don’t list any of the above stuff to shame anyone. Most of us engage in at least one or two of these behaviors, myself included.
The result of flooding our minds and nervous systems with overstimulation from the material world is that we become exhausted, inundated, and lack the space to feel internally connected.
What then happens is a feeling of Soul Loss, like something essential within us is missing or gone. Soul Loss isn’t literally losing your Soul; instead, it means losing touch with your Soul, your vital innermost essence.
Chronic loneliness/feeling alone is one of the biggest symptoms of Soul Loss, as well as feelings of malaise, depression, anxiety, existential crisis, and chronic fatigue.
Spiritual Connection & Loneliness: 7 Ways to Feel Kinship For Lonely People
Loneliness can impact anyone, regardless of whether they’re in a relationship or are single, and it occurs through all ages, genders, nationalities, and belief systems.
So don’t buy into the idea that only eccentric recluses are lonely. In fact, these people are often the happiest because they’re going against the grain and walking their own paths, lone wolf style!
Even if you relish your solitude, it’s still possible to feel lonely and crave for more spiritual connection – this is not just a whimsical want but a deep need from the soul.
If you’re looking for everyday solutions to finding more connections, like joining a running club or finding a volunteer group, you’d be better off finding another article. The suggestions below are for those who want spiritual connection, and they’re based on my own direct experience of what actually works:
1. Go to the wildest place you can find and spend time there, lots of time
Even if the wildest place you can find is your backyard or patio full of pot plants, spend as much time as you can close to nature.
If you’re a passive person like me, just sit, relax, watch, and enjoy. Observe the clouds coming and going in the sky, listen to the birds, watch the ants on the ground, and feel the breeze on your skin. All of this will help you to feel more spiritual connection.
If you’re an active person who feels the need to ‘do’ something, try walking, hiking, climbing trees, or gardening. Get your body moving and your hands dirty. These simple acts will flush your system of loneliness and self-preoccupation and remind you that you’re part of the greater
ecosystem.
Make a habit of spending lots and lots of time in the wildest places you can find – it’s healing to the soul and soothing to the nervous system.
2. Find or create your spirit family and realize that you’re never truly alone
If you’re interested in approaching this from a purely rational or psychological place, your spirit family are the various aspects of your psyche that form who you are.
For instance, you may want to create a spirit family that consists of your Inner Wise One, your Protector, your Inner Child, your Artist, your Counselor, and so on. Essentially, what I’m describing here are archetypes or psychological parts (see IFS). And all these parts can be called upon to support and guide you as part of your spirit family or whatever you prefer calling them.
If you’re open to the possibility that there are non-physical beings out there or have had direct experience with them, a spirit family could consist of:
Ancestors (beloved dead from your ancestral line)
Gods or goddesses (like Artemis, Dionysus, Ganesha, Thoth, etc.)
Spiritual masters (like the Buddha, Jesus, Krishna, Tara, etc.)
Light beings (also known as guardian angels)
Spirit animals and plant guides (primal and protective forces of nature)
One of the most beautiful and empowering things about finding or creating your spirit family is that even when you’re alone, you’re never quite alone. You realize that you can always call on these guides for support and guidance at any time, day or night.
Synchronicities or meaningful coincidences (like seeing repetitive numbers or words) are one of the most delightful forms of spirit family and soul guidance.
3. Treat yourself with compassion and awaken the power of your Soul
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: your heart is the doorway to your Soul. The quickest way to activate the energy of your Soul, your innermost wise and luminous essence, is through love and compassion.
How do you practice love and compassion? There are a few ways, such as through simple acts of kindness, metta meditation, learning to forgive and let go and working on healing the heart chakra.
But the best place to start, in my opinion, is with the practice of self-compassion and self-love. When you’re able to cultivate those qualities towards yourself, it often becomes easier to spread them to others.
To treat yourself with compassion and awaken the power of your Soul, which will help you to feel a deep spiritual connection, I encourage you to make a habit of keeping a Self-Love Journal.
Journaling, especially guided journaling, is one of the simplest and most profoundly effective ways of learning how to understand and befriend yourself, even the uglier parts of you.
Mantras and affirmations that you repeat throughout the day in a ritualistic and devotional way are also powerful doorways to cultivating more self-love and compassion and, therefore, spiritual connection.
4. Connect with your ancestral heritage and rediscover your roots
To put it bluntly, many of us feel like farts in the wind in this day and age because we’re totally disconnected from our ancestral heritage, our primal roots.
Wouldn’t you like to discover a little more of your ancestral wisdom? It’s possible that through some simple exploration, you could discover lessons, spiritual practices, and even traditions that you could adopt into your life. And this, in turn, can help you to feel more spiritual connection.
This spiritual connection comes in knowing that you’re part of something greater: a people, a culture, a lineage even, that takes you beyond your tiny egoic self and helps you to see a greater picture.
Of course, not everyone has the privilege to uncover their ancestral heritage due to displacement, war, and other forms of violence or trauma that have severed connection to that knowledge.
But if you do have some knowledge of your ancestry, be an explorer and go looking! I’ve discovered some fascinating Celtic wisdom from my own lineage thanks to this practice.
5. Practice deep listening and receiving to awaken spiritual connectedness
Deep listening is what I categorize as any meditative or contemplative practice.
Deep receiving is what I categorize as any practice of gratitude, which may come through offering prayers of thanks or simply creating a gratitude ritual each day.
Zen master Thich Nhat Hanh calls the practice of deep listening and receiving “looking deeply” – and it is what helps to awaken a sense of profound spiritual connectedness. As he writes,
If you look deeply into the palm of your hand, you will see your parents and all generations of your ancestors. All of them are alive in this moment. Each is present in your body. You are the continuation of each of these people.
In our fast-paced world, we need to make the intentional space to slow down, pause, and practice deep listening and receiving. Doing so is vital not only for our mental health, but for our spiritual well-being and sense of connectedness.
Are your feelings of loneliness and isolation due to the fact that you’re moving too quickly?
Maybe you’ve stuffed so much stimulation into your life that there’s no room to breathe, to see beneath the surface truly.
Creating space and open periods of intentional emptiness can help you to find spiritual connection again. After all, we need both yin and yang – we need fullness and emptiness in life. This is called balance.
Make time to meditate. To contemplate. To go within. To receive the blessings of life with joy. To be grateful. To move slowly. To embrace space. To recognize that less is more.
6. Cherish reading books as they can be friends, allies, and spiritual guides
I’ve recently fallen in love again with the power of reading as an antidote to cleansing my brain from the half-thought-out regurgitations on social media.
A single book contains hundreds, if not thousands, of hours of thought, consideration, heart, and soul. A single sentence within a book can not only spark illuminating epiphanies, but it can stay with you for an entire lifetime.
When was the last time you found a book friend? I don’t care what types of books speak to your soul – maybe you love fantasy fiction, poetry, or self-help classics. The only important thing is that you feel spiritually nourished by the book.
7. Recognize that spiritual connection doesn’t have to depend on others because they can’t fill that void
When you do a lot of soul searching, you realize that people come and go in life. Relationships change and evolve. Belief systems also fluctuate and shift. But the one connection you always have is with yourself and your own Soul.
How you treat yourself, how connected you feel to your heart and, therefore, to life as a whole, is of utmost importance.
If you lack a connection to your luminous heart, you’ll try to fill it with things, people, and experiences, thinking that they will fill the void. But they won’t, and they can’t. It’s also not fair to place that burden on them, either.
Dissolve the shadows that obscure your inner Light in this weekly email-based membership! Perfect for any soul seeker serious about practicing ongoing shadow work and self-love.
So please recognize that spiritual connection comes from within. Yes, seeking out a supportive community or friendships can be a wonderful mirror and helpful for your emotional well-being. But the most essential quality is the spiritual relationship you have with yourself first and foremost.
✵ If you’d like ongoing support in finding a sense of deeper spiritual connection with yourself by working through the shadows that obscure your Inner Light, I recommend joining ourShadow & Light Membership. This can be a wonderful way to commit to growing a spiritual connection with your Self. <3>

I hope the guidance in this article has helped to remind you that you’re not alone in feeling lonelyand there are many opportunities to cultivate more spiritual connectedness.
Tell me, what does spiritual connection mean to you? How do you plan on cultivating it more in your life? If you have anything else to share, I’d love to hear from you in the comments!

If people watch Tel-A-Vision for inspiration, they will find more commercials featuring the latest drugs, telling the viewer to “ask your doctor” about the this drug or that vaccine. By the end of the 15-second commercial, most people have already tuned out the final warning that lists the debilitating side effects. One commercial lists heart attacks, strokes, blood clots, depression, suicidal thoughts, abnormal liver tests, bone loss and hypertension. Most people believe such complications are rare or would not apply to them.
Prior to the 1980s, prescription drug advertising on television was virtually nonexistent. By 2023, people, including doctors, were fed-up. Today, these deceptive ads are banned in the UK and other countries. But pharma executives got their way with direct-to-consumers advertising. They published their views in the 2023 medical journal JAMA even though “Fewer than one-third of the most common drugs featured in direct-to-consumer television advertising were rated as having high therapeutic value.”
U.S., talk shows are fast becoming infomercials for the pharmaceutical industry, with celebrities pimping the products. Best selling drugs for 2023 are found here. Keytruda, a strong-selling cancer immunotherapy since the the mid-2010s, maintained its position as the highest-grossing drug with sales of $25 billion, a 19% increase from 2022. That’s one drug.
Whether people zone out to the drone of television and succumb to ingesting the products sold, it is a choice that every one can make. People must be able to think for themselves. Critical Thinking At Risk
Today, critical thinking is at risk of becoming extinct. In the Age of Information, with research performed as easy as a click of the computer mouse, few people take the time to question what they are told when it comes to health.
There are several reasons for the mind to atrophy, the most important of which are environmental exposures. Between fluoride in the water and lithium in the air, the human mind has become dulled.
Observers noted the physical effects of lithium, including “severe chest congestion, coughing, sinus pain, headaches, extreme muscle pain, lethargy, severe diarrhea. “Crazy behavior and wild driving” were also reported. Even in very small doses, Lithium can causes birth defect, especially of the heart. Lithium also passes through breastmilk and will harm the baby. Public health agencies ignored mass human testing.
In 2022, companies drill for lithium in Nevada under groundwater -a mineral needed for electric cars. Behind the scenes, a contentious battle over water rights and the laws that govern mining in the West go under the radar to supply Tesla and its claims of increasing demand for its cars.
Speaking of water rights, municipal water is a source of toxic fluoride, also known to dull the mind.

It is well established that fluoride is not an essential nutrient. Yet, since 1945, toxic hydrofluorosilicic acid and sodium fluorosilicate acid, a fertilizer industry waste product, has been added to municipal water for “promoting human health.” Thirty-seven states in the U.S. give local governments and residents authority over fluoridation decisions.
A mind is a terrible thing to waste, and yet, available evidence suggests that the following are all associated with IQ reductions:
Daily fluoride doses
Urine fluoride levels
Serum fluoride levels, and
Dental fluorosis levels
Many studies, including a 2016 study, show a clear dose response relationship between daily fluoride dose and reduced IQ. The 2016 study showed that a dose of 1.4 mg/day lowered IQ by 5 IQ points. Yet how many people measure their dose of fluoride per day from water and other sources? For 50 reasons to oppose water fluoridation, go here.
Without an ability to think critically, people become slaves to fear.
Fear and Propaganda Sells
People say, “I have half a mind,” and do not realize how accurate they are.
The half a mind idiom expresses the feeling, especially when angry and annoyed, that one would like to do something while at the same time not really planning to do it. Today, people say things they do not mean. Meanwhile, they do not know their minds have been molded, their opinions manipulated, and their habits programmed, by social engineers:
The conscious and intelligent manipulation of the organized habits and opinions of the masses is an important element in democratic society. Those who manipulate this unseen mechanism of society constitute an invisible government which is the true ruling power of our country. …
In almost every act of our daily lives, whether in the sphere of politics or business, in our social conduct or our ethical thinking, we are dominated by the relatively small number of persons…who understand the mental processes and social patterns of the masses. It is they who pull the wires which control the public mind. ― Edward Bernays, Propaganda, 1928
It is fear that sold EUA injections, during the 2020 pandemic, to people who did not think to ask for more information. What if they had asked for the package insert? They would have found a blank sheet of paper and told to search further online. No one knew what was being injected. No one cared what they injected, inhaled, or ingested.

The 2012 FunVax documentary suggested a “God gene” of spirituality that could be shutdown through an injection. It is known that the pineal and hypothalamus, along with all other glands of the endocrine system operate together in the physical and energetic realms. They not only secrete hormones, but also store emotions, and provide a direct link to one’s spirituality. Spirituality does not equal religious fanaticism but rather it is an innate connection that make humans human. Removing the “God gene” could shut down humans on a species level.
In the 1920s, anthroposophist and clairvoyant, Rudolf Steiner, warned humanity about a time in the future when the materialist mind will seek to eliminate a spiritual connection:
‘Sound’ people will speak of nothing but the body. It will be considered a sign of illness for anyone to arrive at the idea of any such thing as a spirit or a soul. People who think like that will be considered to be sick and — you can be quite sure of it — a medicine will be found for this.
The soul will be made non-existent with the aid of a drug. Taking a ‘sound point of view’, people will invent a vaccine to influence the organism as early as possible, preferably as soon as it is born, so that this human body never even gets the idea that there is a soul and a spirit…Materialistic physicians will be asked to drive the souls out of humanity. – Rudolf Steiner, 1917
This is the power of FEAR (false evidence appearing real).
New Products Coming!
Once upon a time, the FDA proposed rules that limited how Big PHarma ads could market their drugs. In 2023, the rule was finally published to allow consumer-friendly language.

Amidst the normal dosing of antibiotics, opioids, steroids, and vaccines, come the monoclonal antibodies (mABs) as pills and targeted injectables!
Monoclonal antibodies may be required for people who cannot develop or maintain an adequate immune response after vaccination. – Covid19 Prevention
They’ve played by the rules, completing their recommended course of 3 messenger RNA (mRNA) vaccines. But they can’t count on vaccination to protect them against SARS-CoV-2 because of their blunted immune response to the vaccines as well as to the virus. – Brian Koffman, MD JAMA Network 2021
In essence, mAbs appear to counteract the effects of the first vaccines to provide some semblance of immunity. What is immunity?
The immune system is the human defense system, inborn and innate. It requires Nature’s tools. To create health in a toxic world requires returning to Nature. But only if people know it is an option. Only if people can turn off the TV.
A recent study investigated the potential effects of CBD on symptoms related to menstruation, finding that oral doses of CBD helped alleviate various symptoms such as stress, anxiety and irritability compared to participants’ initial conditions. However, depression levels remained unchanged throughout the study period.
The research study marks the first of its kind to explore the impact of cannabidiol specifically on menstrual-related symptoms (MRS) and general irritability. The findings indicated notable reductions in MRS, stress, irritability and anxiety after three months of CBD use compared to baseline measurements.
According to the authors, the results suggest that CBD could serve as an effective treatment for alleviating MRS. Given the limited options for managing MRS and its associated experiences, further exploration of CBD as a treatment option is deemed necessary.
Current remedies for MRS are limited, often involving lifestyle adjustments, behavioral therapies or over-the-counter (OTC) medications. Further, the authors noted that severe psychological symptoms may require pharmacotherapy or hormonal interventions, but these approaches are only effective for a portion of individuals and may entail side effects.
During the trial, participants were instructed to consume CBD softgels two times a day for five days at the onset of menstrual symptoms, for three months. Participants were divided into two groups, one receiving a 160-milligram dose of CBD twice daily and the other receiving 320 milligrams.
Exclusions from the study included individuals who had used marijuana in the past 30 days, those attempting to conceive, individuals with significant health conditions, minors and individuals outside the range of 18 to 55 years of age. One participant withdrew due to skin irritation after a single CBD dose.
Results showed consistent reductions in MRS, irritability, stress, symptom severity and anxiety across both dosage groups compared to baseline. These changes were observed as early as the first month and continued throughout the study period.
Published in the “Experimental and Clinical Psychopharmacology Journal,” the study disclosed support from marijuana companies such as Canopy Growth Corp. (NASDAQ: CGC) (TSX: WEED) and Charlotte’s Web.
Limitations of the study included a relatively homogeneous sample, potentially oversampling individuals with moderate MRS severity. The absence of compensation for participants and reliance on self-reported CBD consumption were also noted, suggesting the need for more rigorous verification methods in future research.
Furthermore, the trial lacked a placebo control, leading the authors to acknowledge the possibility of observed symptom reductions being influenced by placebo effects. Despite these limitations, the study offers initial evidence supporting CBD as a management option for MRS, emphasizing the need for further investigation and optimization of CBD administration.

Nearly six years since cannabis became legal for sale in Canada, new data shows a majority of those using the products available are exclusively buying from legal sources.
The data released Monday found almost 72 per cent of Canadians who used cannabis in the 12 months before the national cannabis survey of 2023 was conducted bought only from a legal vendor.
When asked why they did so, product safety was the biggest reason for 38 per cent or respondents.
Toronto Police Services say they made an arrest in a series of robberies of four cannabis stores in the city that were conducted over the last six months.
Between Monday, October 16, 2023, and Monday, January 8, 2024, police responded to four robbery calls in the Dundas Street East and Broadview Avenue area, Weston Road and Lawrence Avenue West area and St. Clair Avenue West and Jane Street area.
It is alleged that in each incident the accused entered a store while wearing a mask to disguise his identity, approached the checkout counter posing as a customer, produced a handgun and made a demand for cash, and then took a quantity of cash and cannabis before fleeing the scene
Members of Toronto Police Services’ Hold Up Squad opened an investigation and were able to identify the man, L’Mar Cecil Greene, who was arrested on Tuesday, March 19, 202 with the assistance of Toronto Police-Intelligence Services, and officers from 11 Division Major Crime Unit. Officers executed two Criminal Code Search Warrants in relation to their investigation.
It is further alleged that at the time of the search, officers recovered a handgun, a quantity of narcotics, and other items of evidentiary value related to the investigation

He is scheduled to appear in court Thursday, March 20, 2024, at the Toronto Regional Bail Centre, 2201 Finch Avenue West, room 402 at 10 a.m.

There is nothing I don’t love about daffodils! They withstand heavy rain without flinching, and getting buried under a late-season snowstorm in mid-bloom is no big deal. Daffodils aren’t fussy about soil and will grow in sun or shade, and pests like snails, deer, and squirrels steer clear of them.
Yellow is the most common daffodil color, but they also bloom in white, cream, orange and pink. There are at least 25 different daffodil species, including jonquils and paperwhites, and up to 13,000 hybrids! There’s a daffodil out there to please every gardener. The blooms last four to six weeks, and they’re equally happy in containers, window boxes, or planted in the ground.
Planting Daffodils
Daffodils areplanted like tulips, crocus, and other spring bloomers in the fall. Dig a hole six inches deep in the ground or container and place the bulb with the flat end down. Cover with soil, water them, and wait. For the best effect, planting the bulbs in groups of five to ten will make the biggest and brightest statement in the spring garden.
Growing Daffodils
Once daffodils are planted, they immediately start to develop a root system. The tips of the leaves emerge from the ground first, and tall flower buds begin forming at the plant’s base. As the stems get taller, the buds become larger and show colour. The growing cycle may stop and start depending on the weather. A mild start to the winter may encourage faster growth and have daffodils blooming in January. It happened in my garden this year!
If it suddenly becomes colder and daffodils have already broken ground, no problem. They will stop growing and wait patiently for the cold to pass before continuing their journey.
After Blooming
Daffodils use their foliage to create the food energy needed for another year of flowering. For this reason, it’s essential to let them die back naturally. A trick I’ve learned to keep the garden tidy while allowing nature to take its course is to tie the leaves into a knot or pin them together. Once the leaves are entirely limp and yellow, they can be cut back or left to decompose into the ground following the chop-and-drop method.
Clumps of daffodils can get large and overcrowded, which can cause a decrease in flower production. If this happens, dig up the bulbs, divide them, and replant about one-third after flowering.
Daffodil Drawbacks
The only drawback to this fantastic spring flower is that daffodils contain sap that is poisonous to other plants. Before mixing daffodils with other flowers in a vase, soak them in water for 24 hours to remove the sap. They can also be toxic to cats and dogs.
In England, daffodils are often referred to asLent Lillies. It is the official flower of Wales where it’s said that if you spot the first daffodil of the season, the following year will be filled with wealth.
So, have I convinced you that daffodils are the star of the spring garden? They are the stars of mine.
