Flight of the Black Thunderbird

Flight of the Black Thunderbird

Flight of the Black Thunderbird

By Gary Z. McGee

“When you see your matter going black, rejoice, for this is the beginning of the work.” ~Rosarium Philosophorum

The four thunderbirds symbolize the four cardinal directions of the medicine wheel. And although different tribes interpret the Medicine Wheel differently, the energy is what matters.

Where the Yellow Thunderbird of the east represents curiosity and catharsis, and the Red Thunderbird of the south represents passion and beauty, and the White Thunderbird of the north represents honor and adaptation, the Black Thunderbird of the west subsumes them all.

An initiation by any of these thunder gods has the potential to lead to great power, but an initiation by the Black Thunderbird could lead to unimaginable power, verging on apocalyptic.

The Black Thunderbird, as the harbinger of endings, signifies the death of the old self and the birth of something new, something that carries the wisdom of all directions but belongs to none.

Initiation by the Black Thunderbird:

“Great men are like eagles and build their nest on some lofty solitude.” ~Arthur Schopenhauer

The Black Thunderbird, residing in the west—the direction often associated with endings, transformation, and the unknown—embodies the culmination of all the elemental qualities represented by its counterparts. This initiation is not simply a rite of passage but a profound transformation where the initiate is challenged to integrate and transcend the aspects of all Thunderbirds.

The journey begins when an initiate encounters the Black Thunderbird, the oldest and most primal of all thunder deities (usually in a meditative/fasting state). This meeting is not gentle but marked by nature’s fury—torrential waves, relentless rain, tempestuous winds and the “tears of all gods.” These elements symbolize the chaos and change one must endure for transformation. The “tears of all gods” signify the collective sorrow, joy, and wisdom of the cosmos, washing away the old self to prepare for rebirth.

Transformation into the Thunderbird:

“Everything that happens to you is your teacher. The secret is to learn to sit at the feet of your own life and be taught by it.” ~Polly B. Berends

The initiate doesn’t just witness the storm; they become one with it, embodying the Thunderbird. This transformation signifies the ultimate surrender to nature’s power and the universe’s mysteries, leading to a profound understanding and mastery over one’s self. By becoming the Thunderbird, the initiate gains the ability to fly high into the realms of knowledge, intuition, and power, transcending human limitations.

The initiate first encounters the essence of the Yellow Thunderbird. Here, the initiation begins with a quest for knowledge, an insatiable curiosity about the self and the world. The Black Thunderbird tests this by presenting mysteries so deep that they border on the unfathomable, pushing the initiate towards catharsis – a purging of old beliefs, emotions, and identities to make room for rebirth. This part of the journey is about letting go, understanding the cyclical nature of life and death, and finding freedom in the unknown.

The Elbow of the Universe:

“Great men are like eagles and build their nest on some lofty solitude.” ~Arthur Schopenhauer

Perched on this metaphorical point, the initiate, now the Thunderbird, gains a cosmic perspective. “Over-Eyes” implies a vision that transcends normal human sight, seeing the interconnectedness of all things, the past, present, and future. From here, the initiate sees the world’s wound – its suffering, its beauty, and its potential – which becomes their heart, symbolizing empathy, responsibility, and a call to action.

The heart of the thunderbird represents the core of wisdom, courage, and compassion that the initiate must carry. It’s a heart that feels the pain of the world deeply yet beats with the strength to heal and inspire change.

As the initiate moves deeper into the initiation, they are met with the fiery spirit of the Red Thunderbird. Here, the passion for life and the beauty in all its forms are tested. The Black Thunderbird magnifies this experience, turning passion into a force for change, and beauty into a means of healing or destruction.

The initiate learns that beauty is not just in creation but also in transformation, and passion must be directed with wisdom to avoid becoming destructive. This phase of initiation might involve facing one’s deepest desires and fears, learning to harness them for personal and communal growth while transforming wounds into wisdom.

The Path of Courage:

“If courage is the ability to effectively move through fear, challenge, and discomfort, then perseverance is the ability to keep doing it over and over again.” ~Rich Diviney

The North’s White Thunderbird brings the wisdom of honor and the necessity of adaptation to the forefront. Under the Black Thunderbird’s scrutiny, the initiate is challenged to maintain honor in the face of change, to adapt without losing one’s core essence (sacred alignment with universal laws).

This part of the initiation is about integrity through transformation, understanding that adaptation is not submission but a strategic evolution. The Black Thunderbird might present scenarios where honor seems at odds with survival, teaching the initiate to navigate these waters with grace, wisdom, and resilience.

This part of the journey is also about questioning, innovating, and redefining what it means to be human. It’s an invitation to not just accept the world as it is but to actively participate in shaping it. The Black Thunderbird, as the “dark-reminder in the forgotten-light,” brings the duality of existence into focus, reminding us of the shadow aspects of life we often ignore.

Return with Magic Elixir:

“I’d rather be whole than good.” ~Jung

Having faced the trials and been transformed, the initiate returns to “the tribe” or “nest” – symbols for community or humanity at large. They bring back the “magic elixir” – new insights, practices, or ways of being that can heal, inspire, or change the collective.

This return signifies the completion of the hero’s journey but also the beginning of a new cycle where the initiate, now the Thunderbird, helps others on their paths of self-discovery and transformation through counterintuitive and even counterculture ways (Middle Way; Crazy Wisdom).

As Heraclitus said, “Opposition brings concord. Out of discord comes the fairest harmony,”

The Black Thunderbird not only represents the storm of change but also the wisdom of ancient forces guiding human evolution, encouraging us to stretch beyond our known selves into realms of greater truth, courage, and unity with the cosmos.

“Subsuming all” the Black Thunderbird encapsulates all thunderbirds. Thus, compelling the initiate to synthesize curiosity, passion, honor, and adaptability into a unified self. This is not about balance but about the dynamic interaction of these forces within the individual, allowing one to be all things at once: curious, passionate, honorable, and adaptable.

The initiation concludes with the initiate becoming the Thunderbird, not just in metaphor but in essence. They are now a force of nature that can call upon storms for change, use curiosity to explore new realms, wield passion for creation, uphold honor in chaos, and adapt to whatever comes next. This transformation is about becoming a guide for others, a bringer of change, and a protector of balance.

The Black Thunderbird initiation thus acts as a crucible where all human qualities are tested, refined, and integrated into a being capable of navigating and influencing the world in profound ways. It’s an initiation into the core of existence, teaching that all aspects of life—from curiosity to adaptation—are not just parts of a journey but are the journey itself, endlessly intertwined and ever-evolving.

Surrey RCMP dismantle a large illicit cannabis distribution group, seize 700 pounds of illicit cannabis, guns, psilocybin

The Surrey RCMP Drug Unit dismantled what they say was a sizeable illicit cannabis distribution group, seizing cannabis, cash, psilocybin, and firearms.

The investigation began in early September 2024, when Surrey RCMP responded to a report of an illicit distribution of cannabis. Police say that frontline officers attended a shipping business at the time located in north Surrey and seized four large boxes of cannabis.

Following this, the Surrey RCMP Drug Unit took over the investigation and on September 29, 2024, officers intercepted a second shipment at the same shipping location. Police seized 170 lbs. of vacuum-sealed cannabis.

Then, on October 10, 2024, the Surrey RCMP Drug Unit, with assistance from the Surrey Gang Enforcement Team, executed a search warrant at a residence in the 300 block of Stevens Drive, in West Vancouver. A 29-year-old man was arrested, and officers seized the following items:

  • $145,000 cash
  • 1000+ chocolate psilocybin bar
  • 4 kg of psilocybin
  • 700 lbs. of dried cannabis (various stages of packaging)
  • 3 shotguns
  • 3 submachine guns
  • Ammunition

The investigation is ongoing.

“Illegal cannabis is not tested or quality controlled and may contain harmful levels of contaminants,” says Cpl. Sarbjit K. Sangha Media Relations Officer Surrey RCMP.

“Targeting offenders involved in the illegal drug trade in our community continues to be a top priority for the Surrey RCMP Drug Unit, added Cpl. Sangha.

In another case, in May, the BC Civil Forfeiture Office began civil forfeiture proceedings against two properties following investigations into the sale and distribution of illicit cannabis by a company operating in Surrey, BC.

The initial investigations by Surrey RCMP into the illicit sales and distribution of cannabis took place from April 2020 to February 2022. The two properties are located in Maple Ridge and Mission.

The BC government filed its fourth unexplained wealth order (UWO) application in September 2024, seeking to seize $5.6 million worth of properties connected to what police say was a large, illegal cannabis production and distribution business.

Texas AG Goes to Court to Block Marijuana Decriminalization in Dallas

Texas AG Goes to Court to Block Marijuana Decriminalization in Dallas

Attorney General Ken Paxton of the state of Texas is suing Dallas over its proposal that decriminalizes cannabis in the city. The suit names the defendants as the city council of Dallas; Kimberly Bizor Tolbert, the city’s interim manager; Mayor Eric Johnson; and Michael T. Igo, the city’s interim Chief of Police.

The charter amendment in question, Proposition R, was approved by 67% of voters in the city during elections. It was placed on the ballot by Ground Game Texas, a group focused on advancing social justice while strengthening democracy.

Despite the favorable win, Paxton argued in a press release that cities couldn’t pick and choose which state laws they’d follow. The new charter proposal directs that the state’s department of police stop making arrests for Class A or B misdemeanor cannabis possession and issuing citations for the same.

Another section of the proposal forbids city personnel or funds from being used to carry out testing on any marijuana-related substance to determine whether it meets the legal definition of cannabis under both federal and state laws. In addition to this, it stresses that law enforcement officers cannot consider the smell of cannabis as probable cause for search and seizure.

The amendment notes that police officers who are found to be in violation of this policy shall be punished.

Paxton explained that the city of Dallas had no authority to prohibit law enforcement from enforcing the state’s drug laws, let alone the authority to override these laws. He added that this was an attempt to violate the state’s constitution, noting that any city that tried to constrain law enforcement in this manner would be sued by his office.

The attorney general has already sued other cities like Denton and Austin for approving similar ordinances. Earlier this year, the AG stated in a press release that he would not stand by as cities violated state law deliberately and promoted the use of illegal drugs that harmed communities in Texas.

The city council adopted the election’s results last week, with Council Member Cara Mendelsohn of District 12 moving to add a clause that clarified that if the proposal conflicted with state law, it wouldn’t be enforced until and unless state law changed. Mendelsohn wasn’t successful though, with her motion failing despite her argument that the charter amendment violated state law.

Others that agreed with Mendelsohn included Mayor Eric Johnson of Dallas and Council Member Gay Donnell Willis of District 13.

The wider marijuana industry, including firms like Green Thumb Industries Inc. (CSE: GTII) (OTCQX: GTBIF), is probably not surprised by the efforts of the Attorney General in Texas to attempt to block the progress that is being made by some cities in rolling back marijuana prohibition. Ultimately, those policies will change as more people demand for changes to be made.

Canadian Cannabis Council, Global Affairs Canada question Israel’s Canadian cannabis report

Canadian Cannabis Council, Global Affairs Canada question Israel’s Canadian cannabis report

image

The Canadian Cannabis Council (C3) says it continues to be surprised by the allegations of “product dumping” of cannabis from Canada by the Israeli government.

Specifically, C3’s president Paul McCarthy says he still has questions about how investigators for the Israeli government determined the price of Canadian cannabis. Those prices, based on wholesale cannabis prices in Canada, informed the determination that these products were being “Dumped” in the Israel market at allegedly above market rate.

In a recent report, Israel’s Ministry of Economy proposed levies of up to 175% on Canadian cannabis products being sold in the country’s medical cannabis program.

The tax rates are based on the Israeli government’s investigations into cannabis pricing in the Canadian market, as well as different Canadian cannabis companies’ cooperation with the Israeli government investigation process.

The investigation, which was first announced this past January, was around allegations of “product dumping” of Canadian cannabis into the Israeli market. In July, the government agency released its preliminary report on the topic. The newest report was released in November. A final ruling on the proposed levies is still pending.

The Canadian Cannabis Council questions the methodology of this analysis. In their submission to the Israeli government, the organization stated:

“Our members do not export final consumer-ready packaged goods to Israel, but instead export bulk raw material cannabis flower. It is only once that raw material flower has arrived in Israel that local manufacturers process and package the flower for sale to pharmacies in accordance with the Israel Medical Cannabis Authority’s rules and regulations.”

McCarthy says these questions remain unanswered.

“No one can ascertain how any of the decisions were made,” he told StratCann via email. “This includes individual companies who provided much of the information used for these determinations.

“One major question is whether the analysis was able to maintain a proper ‘apples to apples’ comparison throughout. It is quite possible that retail price, wholesale price and/or the application of excise tax and HST, or not, have been used in an inconsistent manner throughout the analysis. Should this prove to be the case, it would mean that calculations are wildly off base.”

According to C3’s submission to the Israeli government, based on data from the Canadian Cannabis Exchange (CCS), the average price in 2023 of cannabis flowers sold in bulk in Canada is only CAD$0.96 a gram.

In the most recent report, Israel’s Ministry of Economy responds to C3’s “apples to apples” argument, saying that this per gram rate is based on “low quality” products that are not comparable to the quality or type of cannabis sold into the Israeli market, stating that “the method of wholesale packaging is not a parameter for comparing the quality of the exported products.”

Although a release of the Israeli government’s final determination is unknown, McCarthy says his understanding is that the final ruling on the matter could come at any time in the next few months. It’s also possible that even if the final report is approved, the country’s Ministry of Finance can choose not to enforce it.

McCarthy also says C3 will support any efforts made by the Canadian government to address  what he says is a “clearly a broken process.”

“I know that officials are currently investigating the situation to determine the best path forward.”

One possibility, he says, is a WTO challenge, although he doesn’t see this as a timely remedy.

“Some have wondered whether a WTO challenge would be a potential path,” continues McCarthy. “C3 would certainly support any efforts pursued by the government of Canada, but it’s important to note that a WTO challenge would likely take years to be concluded and wouldn’t undo the harm caused by this today. While this may be an important step to set the record right and to guide future actions, we’d like to concentrate on what we can do right now to rectify this egregious determination.”

Israel’s preliminary report also says that the commission will submit a report on its findings to the World Trade Organization.

The floating price, or tariff, exists, explains a notice by the commissioner (Translated), “when the foreign producer exports the goods at prices lower than their production costs or their price in the country of origin. Such imports are defined in the World Trade Organization as ‘unfair trade,’ and according to the WTO’s Export Convention, the country may protect its domestic market in such cases by imposing an export levy, which compares the import price to the price that reflects fair competition.”

The World Trade Organization defines such imports as “unfair trade.” According to the WTO’s Export Convention, a country may protect its domestic market in such cases by imposing an export levy, which compares the import price to the price that reflects fair competition.

Jean-Pierre J. Godbout, a spokesperson for Global Affairs Canada, tells StratCann that the agency is reviewing the proposal to see if it is in compliance with WTO rules.

“Canada is disappointed with Israel’s Commissioner of Trade Levies’ conclusion that imports of medical cannabis from Canada were dumped into Israel and caused material injury to the Israeli domestic industry. We are reviewing the Commissioner’s decision to assess its compliance with applicable WTO rules and have significant concerns with the Commissioner’s methodological choices and interpretations of the facts in the case. We will continue to closely monitor the development of this case, including the Advisory Committee review and Ministerial approval processes, and intervene alongside the implicated Canadian industry.”

The head of the economy, regulation and innovation at Israel’s Ministry of Health also has concerns about the proposal, saying it will harm Israel’s cannabis industry, questioning the report’s methodology and saying the Ministry of Health will not support the proposal.

Health Canada grants cannabis testing licence to Brock University

Brock University in St. Catharines, Ontario, has received an analytical testing license from Health Canada.

The license will allow researchers at Brock to analyze cannabis samples for these products’ chemical and biological components for effectiveness and safety.

Testing will take place using equipment within the Brock-Niagara Validation, Prototyping and Manufacturing Institute (VPMI).

“The cannabis analysis license truly opens the doors for the types of support that the VPMI can provide for the industry across the Niagara region, Ontario and Canada,” says VPMI Scientific Director and Associate Professor of Chemistry Paul Zelisko.

“The licence will also permit the VPMI to support stakeholders in typing cannabis strains for more targeted and personalized applications and to help those within the industry to find value added compounds in waste materials to promote a more circular economy,” he adds.

These waste materials can include cannabis leaves, stems and roots. Zelisko says.

“Discovering valuable compounds in this waste material can help a company mitigate costly disposal fees and/or develop new revenue streams,” he says.

The testing will also help companies look into the addition of particular flavours and scents to their cannabis edible, beverage, and vaping products to ensure products remain within Health Canada’s allowable THC limits.

Brock Acting Vice-President, Research Michelle McGinn says the new license is “a milestone” for Brock University and the Niagara region.

“It opens a new frontier for cannabis research that has immense implications for public health and economic growth,” says McGinn. “Consistent with VPMI’s mission, we are applying our specialized knowledge and state-of-the-art equipment to solve real-world challenges and thereby demonstrating how science and business flourish together.”

Health Canada has also renewed a research-related cannabis license granted to Brock University in 2019, one of the country’s first universities to receive a cannabis-related research and development license.

That license allowed Cool Climate Oenology and Viticulture Institute (CCOVI) researchers and local industry partners to identify plant virus infections in cannabis and other developing cannabis-infused drink technology.

An analytical testing licence from Health Canada allows for activities such as testing for chemical contaminants, microbial contaminants, cannabinoid content, dissolution or disintegration, sterility, stability testing and/or pesticides.

Health Canada currently lists 136 laboratories as being authorized to conduct analytics testing under the federal Cannabis Act. Brock’s licence was issued on October 24, 2024.

Rewriting the Script of Life

Rewriting the Script of Life

Rewriting the Script of Life

  By Julian Rose

This is a good moment to think big.

Big things are happening on the world stage – but most only involve a change of emphasis, a reordering of the standard power play conducted within the deep state’s global field of influence.

Don’t confuse this ‘Reset’ with the deeper change which is taking place underneath. Although they do overlap at times, they are very different happenings.

The World Economic Forum version is based upon the power play of a number of despotic billionaires, gathering behind them a coterie of political, corporate and technocratic ciphers having no spine and no interest in operating outside the standard field of financially rewarding slavery.

This motley cabal is going nowhere other than to a different corner of the anti-life cul-de-sac within which they permanently operate.

They are a self interested force based entirely on ‘taking’. Draining the life force of its vigour and, whether consciously or unconsciously, fixated on destruction and control.

In amongst their dark endeavours a glimmer of light occasionally seems to show itself – but this is a chimera, because where suppression, greed, control and death form the fundaments of the policies being adhered to, no emanation of light is possible.

Collective values resonating with emanations of light belong to a completely different realm.

They set their life course on cooperation, instead of division. Empathy, instead of alienation. Peace, instead of war.  Nurturing, instead of stealing. Truth, instead of lies. Love, instead of hate. Justice, instead of criminality. The formation of life, as opposed to a cult of death.

You will find such light only where the values being expressed are the antithesis of the inhuman brutality adopted as the means to become ‘successful’ within the dominant corporate and billionaire based model of the modern world.

I am not saying that there are no individuals operating within such globalist structures incapable of rising above their dark goals; there are of course, and their distinctive humanitarian qualities are to be applauded.

What I am saying, is that those who have developed proper conscious awareness and who resonate with the light, must recognise that their role is to now step forward to completely rewrite the script of life.  To form the vanguard of those determined to lay the foundations of a new society.

They must place the positive powers of humanity at the centre of all aspirations and goals that form the fundamental basis of human education – and indeed, human existence. Presenting a fresh blue print for what society is all about and where it wishes to go.

This means setting in motion a reversal of the situation in which schools, universities, and career influencers teach the failed model of local, national and global conformism. A script that further exacerbates the self destructive pattern of our misdirected collective existence.

This failed model includes religion, whose carefully controlled dogmas have been and remain the prime cause of often brutal divisions across the full spectrum of mankind.

So now, while cracks in the power money control system are widening, we have to seize the moment to set out a purposeful vision of what it is that will rise up to vanquish and ultimately completely replace the dystopian prison within which our present world has been incarcerated.

This vision can only be brought to life via an unremitting desire to realise in ourselves – and in the outside world – the manifestation of truth. A deep determination to articulate in words and deeds, that which flows out from the heart, thereby illuminating the way ahead.

A true vision cannot be mind based. The mind is a beautiful and vital instrument, but operating on its own it turns into a calculator; pulling towards a digital, abstract and material view on how to organise life. It tricks us into following an alien and essentially reductionist form of logic, lacking spontaneous acts of generosity, warmth and inspiration. The true expressions of an unblocked life force.

The entire toxic EMF powered instant messaging addiction, is a mind creation. And mind disengaged and removed from heart leads to madness.

The Internet of Things; the Hive Mind; the ‘Digitalisation Disease’; the IT sterilisation of diverse living entities and the entire agenda of The Great Reset, the Fourth Industrial Revolution and Green Deal – are all a manifestation of mind cut-off and alienated from the heart and from the spiritual.

At its extreme this takes the form of genetic engineering the human and environmental gene pool; influencing and altering the behaviour of the cells and neurons of the human brain and an obsession with robotic and transhuman life distortions.

So let us be done with this obscene cult of the mind. We humans are warm blooded, social beings, our instinct is to help each other in times of difficulty and to celebrate together in times of joy.

Love lives in our hearts and our hearts connect directly to the supreme progenitor of life.

Our grand vision, our revolution, comes to us from the life source itself, the central nucleus of all existence. Provided we feel connected-up, we know what needs to be done in order to follow and fulfil the potential gifted to us.

This is called ‘the Path of Truth’. Or in Eastern esoteric schools ‘The Way’ (The Tao).  And to determinedly follow it means to also rewrite the script of life.

There can be no woolly ‘New Age’ compromise here. The path of truth remains an internalised chimera until it is expressed in existential pragmatic actions that lay the solid foundations of a spiritually guided new society.

The job of laying these foundations involves standing in the fullness of our heart-mind united power. Recognising that the only way out of the Minotaur’s mind labyrinth is to adhere to that deeply intuitive navigational aid which ensures every crucial decision of our lives only comes direct from Source.

One does not know the composition of ‘the way’ until it reveals itself. There is no predestined formula to follow – as is the case with our fixed education curriculum. Taking The Path of Truth involves a brush with the unknown, a stepping into the infinite.

However, there are signposts to guide us in this grand adventure. Tried and tested spiritual practices which have the vital role of nurturing the development and realisation of our innate mental, spiritual and physical potentialities.

Rewriting the script of life is the absolute prerogative of an evolving humanity, yet it can only be done by fully embracing the fact that our existence here on earth is solely for the purpose of fulfilling our mission as conduits of the Supreme Consciousness.

Above all else, it is this realisation that will lead to the complete metamorphosis of life on earth and hasten the much anticipated dawning of a deeply fulfilling age of emancipation for all animate and inanimate beings of this world and far beyond.
