Brian and Chanttelle Rusk came into cannabis production through interest as much as necessity. Prior to their meeting 10 years ago, a car accident had Chanttelle using nine different pharmaceuticals her neurologist eventually swapped for a cannabis prescription. Over time, difficulty securing consistent supply of strains that worked for her, in addition to the cost, led the entrepreneurs from a medical license to a commercial cultivation license, and now to winning the inaugural Top Grower award for the micro cultivation category.
Rusk had an affinity for growing from an early age. “Where it all started was, I would see on these forums online someone say: ‘I’ve got a really nice orange flavoured sativa that had this effect.’ And all I could get was weed and it came in a bag,” he says. “So that’s what piqued my interest years and years ago.” Fast forward to 2017, when they asked themselves if it could be done for a living once cannabis was legalized. The couple received their license in 2019 and began construction in their town of Rocky Mountain House, Alta.
From different lights to different mediums and different cultivars, and a shop in the garage for testing them, they settled on organic cultivation and a make of lights that brought out “different terpenes on the same Blueberry cut that I was running for years,” he says. Into the Weeds grows exclusively under HLG lights, and with similar thinking as growing for themselves, became the Canadian distributor for the company when they were unable to purchase them otherwise.
“We like our environments dialed right in,” says Chanttelle. “We’re still using the science and the horticulture side but, you know, relying on the organic side of things,” she says.

“What we keep in mind is that people are consuming this for medical purposes,” Brian continues. “Sometimes just for fun, and they want the best quality; they’re not playing around. You know the best weed I’ve smoked is grown this way.”
A team of three
The team consisting of the husband-and-wife duo, along with a recent full-time addition Zach Ginter, grow in 10-gallon pots of peat-based soil with dry organic amendments, worm castings, microbial amendments and beneficial insects. “We really want consistency,” says Brian. “If we switch to beds or something, we really want to make sure we can still keep that.”
Ginter finds that living soil plays a vital role in the flavour of the flower. After four years of managing a local dispensary in town, having tried products grown using different methods, he attests to the quality and diversity of the terpenes and flavonoids present in craft organic batches. “I like the orangey-grapefruity Mimosa,” he says, “that has a little bit of gassiness to it as well.”
Previously, an affinity for racing dirt bikes brought Ginter down to Santa Cruz, where he was introduced to the mecca of cannabis culture. “I met a bunch of guys that grew for the dispensaries and discovered the [cannabis] world down there,” he says, the experience of which he then brought back home with him.
In addition to home growing and his time spent in retail (where he met Chanttelle), Ginter was always interested in the specifics of the genetics. He wanted to find the real Girl Scout Cookies cuts and seeds himself, not “just have some random label it.”
‘Growing weed that makes people happy’
Currently, Into the Weeds flower is being sold under a couple different brands, including one SKU by Token Naturals with discussion for more. The team also has a “batch on the way to Mendo Medicinals,” says Rusk. “That one is country wide.” Everything of theirs that has made it to market has sold out.
With expansion on the horizon, Brian and Chanttelle detail the extent of future potential partnerships within different pathways including Jamaica, Australia and German export markets. But for now, their resources are best conserved on home soil.
The mom-and-pop shop working to break into the market has proven challenging in the Canadian landscape, “but we get to do our dream job – growing as good of cannabis as we can – and we don’t have to look over our shoulder, and we don’t have to compromise how we grow,” says Rusk.

THE EASTERN DOOR
After five years of discussions, planning, and uncertainty, the Mohawk Council of Kahnawake (MCK) voted to officially enact regulation concerning dispensaries and dispensary licences in Kahnawake, paving the way for the first licences to be handed out in the coming months.
“There will be a prequalifying stage for applicants, and once they pass that there’s a more in-depth review of the application,” said MCK chief Tonya Perron, who holds the portfolio for cannabis regulation.

Perron emphasized that at this stage, there are only going to be three permits issued to community members, in keeping with community feedback during the creation of the Kahnawake Cannabis Control Law.
If more than three applicants apply, as Perron expects will be the case, the permits will be assigned by a lottery system by the Cannabis Control Board (CCB).
It’s expected that applications will open early in the new year, at a date that will be set by the CCB, currently composed of Tara Jacobs and David Diabo. The board is seeking a third member after Rhonda Kirby’s resignation in October of this year. Perron said that Kirby’s replacement will likely be hired next week, though the board has been
operational for the past months as it has been able to meet quorum with two members.
“We will have someone appointed who will be immediately trained. They’ll be given a crash course on everything, and they will then immediately join the two current board members,” Perron said.
Though Monday’s council vote meant that the moratorium on the sale of retail cannabis has been lifted in Kahnawake, Perron emphasized that this doesn’t mean that selling cannabis is now legal.
“It’s still illegal to possess for the purposes of selling. Personal possession is different, but it’s still illegal right now to possess for the purpose of retail sale, and to actually sell without a licence from the Cannabis Control Board,” she said.
“Although the moratorium has now been fully rescinded, the law and regulations are in place, and that replaced the moratorium. So if you’re not complying with those regulations, you’d be acting outside of the law, which means you’re acting without lawful authority to do so.”
Cannabis sales in Kahnawake has been a hot topic since it was put on the Council table in 2018. Though MCK has completed community consultations, many community members feel that cannabis should not be regulated by the MCK.
“We have the ability to develop and regulate our own cannabis industry without being under the authority of the federal government,” said community member Jeremiah Johnson, referencing how MCK is still bound by the federal Indian Act. “We can develop a law that is equal to or better than the current federal model, and implement it ourselves.”
The Cannabis Control Law requires certain elements of retail sale of cannabis to be deemed suitable by Health Canada. Johnson said that in his eyes, Health Canada is an arm of a foreign government, and requiring products in Kahnawake to be evaluated by them endangers the community’s rights and sovereignty.
“There is a better way, a way the community can all benefit from this industry, not just the lucky few,” he said. “We can produce our own product which meets or exceeds Health Canada regulations right here in Kahnawake.”
Perron acknowledged that the topic is controversial in Kahnawake.
“There are a number of members in our community with opposing views on all matters cannabis, including licensing and whether or not it should be regulated, and who should regulate,” so I anticipate there will be some displeasure with the way it’s proceeding,” she said. “I’m certain we’ll hear feedback negative and positive.”
Perron said community safety is the priority when proceeding with cannabis regulation.
“We do have to keep in mind, though, that the primary reason for the law and the regulations is to ensure the health and safety of our community members, so we know what’s in them, where they came from, and how to trace them back if there’s an issue with them,” she said. “We’re ensuring the safety of our youth by requiring identification at the door to enter the premises; the purpose is for health and safety.”
It’s also important to prevent any rise of organized crime related to cannabis dispensaries, Perron said. Kanesatake, where a large number of unregulated dispensaries operate, has sometimes been associated in the media with gang-related activities stemming from the cannabis industry, such as when an individual tied to organized crime was murdered outside the Green Room dispensary in 2021.
“Organized crime has a hold on the illicit cannabis industry, and that’s not something we want in our community. I think we can all agree on that,” Perron said. “Despite the opposing opinions and positions regarding the product and the regulation of it, I’m really confident this is the right direction that we’re taking.”
Community members can keep up to date with forthcoming news from the Cannabis Control Board at their official website, cannabisboard.org. The enactment of the regulations is also on the agenda for next week’s community meeting, which takes place on December 12 at 7 p.m. at the Golden Age Club.

The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine (NASEM) recently hosted a two-day session with marijuana stakeholders, regulators, advocates, and legalization opponents to share thoughts on the country’s cannabis legalization landscape. It was NASEM’s second iteration of the Public Health Consequences of Changes in the Cannabis Policy Landscape’ series, following the first conference in September.
The first conference featured representatives from federal agencies such as the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH), and the National Cancer Institute (NCI). The event created an opportunity for officials from these organizations to share their respective agencies’ perspectives on critical marijuana-related research.
Last week’s conference attracted many participants who had been deeply involved with cannabis regulation at various government levels, including marijuana regulators from California, Maryland, Hawaii, Oklahoma and Missouri. The regulators discussed their experiences with cannabis regulation and the successes and failures they experienced while trying to regulate the swiftly evolving state-legal cannabis industry.
Nicole Elliot, director of California’s Department of Cannabis Control (DCC), noted that California’s cannabis market had become quite robust with “a lot of complexities” since it legalized recreational cannabis six years ago. She said the California market has begun to experience a little stability and consolidation but added that competition in the market is becoming increasingly fierce.
Furthermore, Elliot said the illicit cannabis market has been a persistent thorn in the side of the state legal market and posited that this may be due to the fact that California has a history of producing more cannabis than most states in the country. She also noted that patchwork local rules have created plenty of regulatory loopholes that allow black-market sellers to continue their operations.
Amy Moore, Missouri’s Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS) director of cannabis regulation, said that while her state is still new to the cannabis industry, its cannabis segment is “pretty active” and recently hit the $1 billion sales milestone. According to Moore, the state’s medical and recreational cannabis rules both have a major focus on public health.
Conversely, Hawaii Office of Medical Cannabis Control and Regulation supervisor Michele Nakata concedes that her state was slow to adopt a medical-cannabis dispensary system, thanks to much more restrictive cannabis policies compared to other states in the country. While this undoubtedly limited the industry’s growth, it made cannabis regulators’ jobs “a lot easier,” even when resources were limited. She said Hawaii cannabis regulators are now preparing for the possibility of recreational-cannabis legalization.
These interactions between the different groups of regulators, opponents and proponents as well as other cannabis industry stakeholders could be helpful in shaping the future plans of many companies such as Innovative Industrial Properties Inc. If it wasn’t for brave citizen scientists, geophysics nerds and their internet channels, no one would bloody know about the cyclical pole shift and its effects. And the freedom of information will soon come to an end…just watch the gag orders descend. Oh no! Can’t let the cosmic cat out of the bag. Got to keep the genie in the bottle….

The War is Through Us
There is a spiritual war that acts THROUGH us with occult [hidden] forces that influence us and humanity at large, and it is intensifying. We are transducers of hidden forces while the ego-personality that is only focused externally lives under the illusion of “freedom” and “independence.”
We are subjected to the suggestions of occult hostile forces of the vital world, but we also receive insights, creative and inspirational impulses from Spirit, the Higher Self, and Divine forces, which also manifest as thoughts.
We all receive a mixture of these impressions/thoughts from the whole range of lower to the higher realm depending on many factors. Based on our level of Being [soul individuation], our intentions and aspirations in life can either be guided from the lower nature, or we can choose to align them with higher ideals.
The direction we bring our awareness towards determines which realm we tune into and the forces we align with. As long as we live on the surface of the socially conditioned [false] ego-personality [which is also the result of unconscious trauma, childhood wounds, past life karma, etc.], the majority of this will be unconscious and mechanical, living under the illusion of “free will” while we are guided and/or manipulated by hidden forces outside our five-sensory perception.
During this intensifying spiritual war, it’s important to understand how the hostile/deceiving forces, some even demonic auric demi-gods, operate and use, abuse, and manipulate humanity from non-physical realms. I’ve written and spoken about this topic for over two decades in various articles, videos, and webinars.
This article is a very basic overview of the main aspects of how these hidden hostile forces (which have been given different names throughout the ages) operate. We go deeper into these points in our podcast episode, “Beginner’s Guide To Occult Forces.”
Humanity is not on top of the food chain
Malevolent entities feed off of specific emotions and frequencies, predominantly reactive emotional turmoil that is projected externally, such as violence, anger, hate, envy, jealousy, lust and sexual energy of the lower nature, fear, anxiety, shadow projections, pride, self-importance (“feeling better as…”) as well as self-pity (“feeling less than…”), victim/blame consciousness, self-loathing, to name a few.
These occult [hidden] forces also tempt humans with greed, power, and sex working through them, implanting thoughts, suggestions, false spiritual & religious ideologies, and beliefs (such as the religious “savior program”), and desires that are not their own, but humans mistake them as their own.
These negative forces can also appear as “positive” beings in highly deceptive ways that are hardly distinguishable unless you can “see the unseen” and notice the ego temptations they target within you.
How do these forces influence humans? In other words, how do we open ourselves up to their influence, even unconsciously?
They need an entry point to come in.
What are the entry points? (we ALL have them to varying degrees unless you are fully enlightened):
Shadow, Trauma, Ego Temptations, Lower Nature
Unconscious blind spots, Trauma, childhood wounding, unintegrated shadow aspects, giving in to the temptations of the lower nature: lust, greed, power over others, mechanical reactive behavior, ego blindspots, pride, arrogance, self-importance but also self-pity, victimizing yourself, blaming others – all serve as entry points for other forces to come in through the cracks of your un-integrated being,
Pharmaceuticals and Illegal Drugs
Entry points can be created via pharmaceutical drugs, especially psychiatric drugs, anti-depressants, SSRIs, benzodines, etc., or illegal drugs, fentanyl, heroin, and amphetamines like Cocaine, speed, and meth, open doorways to demonic entities.
COVID mRNA vaccine
Vaccines, especially the recent COVID mRNA vaccines, contain Soratic hostile entities, as Thomas Mayer showed in his research and book; “COVID Vaccines Form a Spiritual Perspective: Consequences on the Soul, Spirit, and Life After Death.” These vaccines also have the potential to dislodge the soul from the body, which opens up a doorway for other malevolent beings to come in.
Entry points can also be created via alcohol and so-called “medicine” plants and psychedelics like cannabis, ayahuasca, psilocybin mushrooms, LSD, and others. It’s not black and white; however, notice how psychedelics are being popularized, normalized, abused, and romanticized as if there are no adverse effects.
Strong pharmaceutical drugs, illegal drugs, and high doses of cannabis/medicine plants can rapture the aura/energy body and have the potential to dislodge the soul from the body (getting out of the body) so something else can quickly come in and attach.
On an occult level, satanic ritual abuse, the notorious MK Ultra program, child sexual ritual abuse, and all kinds of initiation rituals the powerful elite engages in behind closed doors are purposely done to open the doorway to powerful asuric hostile entities who take possession of the traumatized individual and to gain more occult powers via making an occult agreement of entrapment.
Psychopaths in power, murderers, rapists, and the death penalty
Most of the powerful psychopaths in power are nothing more than empty vessels of powerful evil asuric occult beings.
Killing their human hosts won’t change anything, for the occult hostile entity that is riding them will survive and attach to or possess a new host. For example, people cheered when “evil” Kissinger died, but from an occult level, nothing changed whatsoever.
Many murders and other violent crimes (including pedophilia and rape) committed by psychotic individuals (be it individual killers, rapists, or psychotic politicians in positions of power giving orders to kill or engaging in sexual ritualistic abuse) can be attributed to these occult malevolent entities who possess or work through them to feed off the “loosh” of suffering, a very “delicious” frequency these beings feed off of.
The death penalty and capital punishment won’t change any of that. It will only give satisfaction to the demonic being (and to the human ego living in the illusion that “justice is done”), which will then look for another suitable human vessel to use.
Hence, as Sri Aurobindo noted:
“…From this point of view, you will see that capital punishment is absurd. The man who murdered was, most probably, under the possession of the impulse of some [occult] being. When the man is executed, the being takes possession of another. Some vital beings want to have their play here….”
Humans are too embedded in a tunnel vision of the dogma of material reality, so they mistake symptoms for causes and don’t recognize the spiritual reality with countless beings acting on and through them.
The Trauma Installment Program
From an occult level, humanity was purposely traumatized over the past three years to create more entry points for these entities to come in and take over humans. It’s the “alien invasion through our bodies.”
The psychological repercussions of the lockdown, stay-at-home orders, mask-wearing, and social distancing will be and are already way worse than the so-called “virus” itself.
It has already created and will create immense Trauma for generations to come. The vast majority of people don’t recognize this because they are already “checked out”, out of body, and disassociated, which is a trauma response.
It is psychological warfare and a massive global Trauma Installment program at works – by design – for people who are traumatized are always easier to control.
From an [esoteric] occult perspective, the inevitable Trauma of the past three years has created more entry points for the occult adverse forces to tag in from unseen realms, feeding off of all the suppressed emotional pain of [forced] submission [based on lies].
Most humans have already been disassociated (out of body ) for decades and can easily be manipulated by these forces without their awareness.
Traps of Agreement
Entry points given access to hostile forces can be made via trap of agreements via engaging in left-hand path/black magic or sex magick practices. Many New Age and popular self-help teachings are black magic practices in disguise. They are based on self-deification (believing to be a god or goddess), worship of ego and egoic will, and wanting to become God, feeling entitled to any desire.
Many so-called manifestation rituals can create these agreements in exchange for a manifested desire or more power, knowingly or unknowingly. It is the classical “Faustian Pact with the Devil,” selling one’s soul for power and riches. These agreements can also have been made in a past life and carry over to the present life.
How can we protect ourselves from the hostile forces?
As long as you are grounded in your true Self and essence and are soul-embodied, they cannot touch you.
They cannot touch your true Self/Essence. They can ONLY tag into what is already there as part of our unconscious and false Self (or you fell into the trap of agreement); hence, utilize them as teachers!
The BEST protection is ongoing psycho-spiritual work (trauma work, shadow work, embodiment practices, spiritual work with sincere aspiration to the Divine, etc.) to bring forth the true Self and close off any entry points, not use any substances or drugs, and watch for your weaknesses and temptations of the lower nature (EVERYONE has them).
Most “entity removal modalities” are useless unless the entry point is closed/healed. Lots of questionable stuff out there, too.
Ultimately, it is about engaging in the Great Work to anchor the soul firmly in your being (“living in the Divine”) and make it the master instead of your conditioned ego-personality running the show, which these forces can easily manipulate.
The Teaching Function of the Occult Adverse Forces
“The hostile forces have a certain self-chosen function: it is to test the condition of the individual, of the work, of the earth itself and their readiness for the spiritual descent and fulfillment.”

From an esoteric perspective and in light of the evolution of consciousness, the occult hostile forces serve a teaching function.
So, be VERY careful of the victim/blame trap, i.e., blaming entities or these forces (or anything or anyone for that matter), for that gives them more power while you disempower yourself. There are still many misperceptions and misconceptions about this “topic of all topics” as it has become more popular over the years. Also, be careful of making assumptions. The vast majority of entity interferences are very subtle, nuanced, and oftentimes hardly distinguishable from your own childhood trauma, triggers, shadow projections, or many other unconscious psychological causes.
It is necessary to “know thyself” and your psyche and be strongly connected to Self to discern what is what, for there is the trap of making assumptions regarding entity attachments when the cause could be way simpler.

There is even a necessity for the existence of the hostile forces. They make your determination stronger, your aspiration clearer. It is true, however, that they exist because you gave them reason to exist.
So long as there is something in you that answers to them (which are your wounds, Trauma, shadow aspects, and lower nature), their intervention is perfectly legitimate. If nothing in you responded, if they had no hold upon any part of your nature, they would retire and leave you.”

The New York State Supreme Court has formerly removed an injunction that had prevented state marijuana regulators from considering a flood of new store licenses, paving the way for a massive expansion of the state’s marijuana market. The court’s ruling comes only days after the state’s marijuana control board, CCB, reached agreements to settle two cases that had stalled regulators’ licensing procedures since August.
In one of those resolved claims, a collective of war veterans sued the CCB, claiming that Ney York’s license prioritizing policy, which focused on social-equity entities affected by criminalization, unlawfully barred veterans with disabilities from candidacy. In the resolution, authorities consented to drop the lawsuit in exchange for approving a provincial recreational marijuana store license for each of the four complainants at a predetermined location. Additionally, the state committed to delaying approvals for any further conditional licenses until April next year to address the existing backlog. The CCB will also form a task force dedicated to service-disabled veterans’ businesses to promote veteran involvement in the marijuana industry.
The second lawsuit, also resolved, involved existing medical-marijuana operators and potential recreational-use applicants who argued that state regulators were misinterpreting the state’s cannabis laws and that licensed companies should be eligible for immediate licensure. In adherence to the court-approved settlement terms, regulators will grant recreational cannabis licenses to the five registered groups involved in the lawsuit.
New York Governor Kathy Hochul expressed her satisfaction with the court’s ruling, stating that it paves the way for quicker store openings, expanded legal marijuana options and enhanced enforcement against illicit activities in the market.
Presently, there are approximately 24 licensed recreational cannabis stores in the state. Despite the legal obstacles, regulators began accepting applications for hundreds of new general cannabis company licenses in October. The prolonged rollout has seen an increase in illicit marijuana operators throughout the state, prompting heightened enforcement measures. In response to the challenges in marijuana legalization implementation, the state Senate Marijuana Subcommittee, chaired by Senator Jeremy Cooney, held discussions on potential legislative solutions in October.
In other developments, Hochul recently enacted legislation aimed at facilitating financial institutions’ collaboration with state-licensed marijuana clients. Additionally, she signed separate legislation to provide tax relief to NYC cannabis businesses facing restrictions under the IRS code 280E. The legislative move complements an earlier budget bill from the previous year addressing state-level marijuana business tax deductions but leaving NYC’s tax laws unaffected. The new bill aims to bridge this policy gap.
Now that New York has had the injunction removed, the state can now get back on track to implementing cannabis regulation, a step that is a win for the broader cannabis industry, including key players such as Green Thumb Industries Inc. (CSE: GTII) (OTCQX: GTBIF).
