WSJ Report Claims Elon Musk Uses Ketamine to Combat Depression

A recent report from The Wall Street Journal has revealed that billionaire and Twitter CEO Elon Musk uses ketamine to alleviate depression.

Ketamine started as a dissociative anesthetic in the 1970s before people discovered that it also reduced depressive symptoms and suicidal thoughts. It induces a “dissociative experience,” or trip that can involve feelings of euphoria, sensory or visual distortions, temporary unusual beliefs and thoughts, and feelings of unreality for about two hours.

Like some other psychedelics, ketamine has seen a surge in scientific and public interest in recent years due to its purported mental health benefits.

According to the Wall Street Journal (WSJ), Elon Musk is one of the growing number of people who are microdosing psychedelics to combat a variety of mental health issues. WSJ says that accounts of ketamine use by the Neuralink and Tesla CEO come from people who have seen him use the psychedelic and others with “direct knowledge of his use.”

Musk apparently uses small doses of ketamine to combat depression and ramps up to higher doses that induce psychedelic-like experiences ahead of social events.

Although Musk didn’t respond to requests for a comment, he later tweeted that he believes ketamine is “occasionally a better option” for addressing depression compared to conventional antidepressants that are “zombifying people.” He claimed that “depression is over diagnosed’” in America and is often an issue of brain chemistry for some people.

Controlled studies have found that ketamine can deliver encouraging results against treatment-resistant depression. A recent paper published in the “New England Journal of Medicinefound that 55% of 403 patients reported “sustained improvement” in depression symptoms after ketamine treatment without any significant side effects.

The FDA has already approved the use of a nasal ketamine spray called Spravato for adults who are suffering from major depressive disorder, have suicidal thoughts or have failed to respond to antidepressants. Treatment typically involves taking antidepressants alongside the ketamine nasal spray at a doctor’s office under the care of a licensed and trained provider.

The two-hour long trip, or dissociative experience, is then followed by a talk therapy session to help the patient integrate any insights or realizations they may have made during the trip into their life.

Doctors do not recommend recreational ketamine use as it can cause side effects such as high blood pressure, unconsciousness, slowed breathing, kidney problems and kidney ulcers.  Due to the risk of adverse side effects, Spravato is only available to approved patients through a restricted system.

Many companies such as Mind Medicine Inc. (NASDAQ: MNMD) (NEO: MMED) (DE: MMQ) are also conducting drug-development programs so that more approved psychedelics-based treatments can become available to the patients who need them.

Despite facing financial and tax challenges, California’s marijuana industry remains unparalleled as the largest cannabis market globally. According to the recent MJBizFactbook report, the state is projected to generate approximately $5.9 billion in legal medical and recreational cannabis sales in 2023.

To provide perspective, this revenue could sustain the economy of a small island country. For instance, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) estimates that Barbados’s gross domestic product (GDP) will reach $6.1 billion this year. Additionally, the IMF forecasts Fiji’s GDP to be approximately $5.4 billion.

Given California’s colossal cannabis market, its magnitude is not surprising. If California were an independent country, its GDP for 2022, totaling $3.6 trillion, would rank fifth globally, positioned between Germany and India with $4.2 trillion and $3.2 trillion, respectively.

Furthermore, marijuana has become a prominent agricultural product in California, competing with and sometimes surpassing two major crops. In 2022, grape production, renowned for the state’s exceptional wine industry, reached a value of $5.5 billion, followed by almonds at $3.5 billion.

Comparatively, other marijuana markets in the United States pale in comparison to California’s sales. Michigan, the second-largest American marijuana market in terms of sales, is projected to generate only one-half of California’s consumer purchases, amounting to $3.1 billion in combined medical and recreational cannabis sales this year.

Until states with large populations such as New York or Pennsylvania bolster their markets, California is unlikely to face significant competition. This also holds true for countries such as Germany, which have yet to establish legal recreational markets.

While acquiring precise data on international legal cannabis sales is challenging, Canada, arguably the largest legal adult-use market outside the United States, reported recreational sales of just $3.4 billion in 2022.

Meanwhile, a bill to legalize marijuana cafes in California was recently approved by the state’s assembly committee. The measure allows dispensaries to offer noncannabis food and beverages at their locations, subject to local approval. California is also taking steps to broaden the market for marijuana outside of the state. Regulators are asking the attorney general’s office for a formal opinion on whether allowing marijuana commerce across state lines would put California at a heightened risk of federal enforcement action.

The governor approved a statute last year giving him the authority to enter into deals with other legal jurisdictions to import and export marijuana goods. The request for advice from DCC is an important first step that might ultimately result in the law being put into effect.

Companies such as IGC Pharma Inc. (NYSE American: IGC) that are looking to commercialize pharmaceutical-grade medicines from THC will not have to be concerned about laws surrounding interstate commerce in marijuana products because the moment a given formulation gains FDA approval, the makers are free to market it anywhere within the country.

Manitoba micro cultivator part of criminal investigation, property seizure

Manitoba micro cultivator part of criminal investigation, property seizure

A man connected to a recently-licensed micro cultivator in Manitoba is part of an ongoing case relating to the illicit production, sale, and distribution of cannabis.

As part of the proceedings, the Manitoba government is also seeking to seize three properties it says are connected to illicit cannabis grows operated by the owner of a micro cultivation facility, including one that is also home to the micro cultivator licensed as Elevated Prairies.

Elevated Prairies was licensed for cultivation by Health Canada in February, 2023.

The three properties in question were raided by the RCMP in June, 2023, with RCMP seizing around 2,000 cannabis plants, along with growing equipment and other items that police allege are proceeds of crime.

Court records show the RCMP first became aware that James Robert McGirr, of Springfield, Manitoba— one of the owners of Elevated Prairies—was an alleged member of a drug trafficking network being invested under the name Project Divergent. This led to an investigation of McGirr and the three properties where cannabis was either grown, stored, or sold.

McGirr’s told police he grew up to 150 kg of cannabis a month and that he smuggles a cannabis extract into and out of the country via barrels of honey or maple syrup.

Court records also show that during an investigation into McGirr’s activities, he told agents he grows up to 150 kg of cannabis a month and that he smuggles a cannabis extract into and out of the country via barrels of honey or maple syrup. As part of the investigation, RCMP say they purchased 40 pounds of cannabis from McGirr for $40,000.

Two of the properties the province wants to seize had operated under medical production licences from 2021-2022. Court records don’t distinguish if these were personal or designated production licences.

Court records also show that Health Canada had initially denied a security clearance to McGirr “on the basis that he has current family members with links to organized crime, specifically drug trafficking activities”. McGirr was to hold the positions of RPIC, head of security, master grower, director and officer.

Elevated Prairies refiled their application after removing McGirr as an officer and was granted their micro cultivation licence about nine months later.

McGirr is due in court on his criminal charges in July.

The Manitoba government argues that the properties in question are connected to the proceeds of crime in part due to financial records showing McGirr declaring less than $100,000 in income from 2015-2019, despite depositing hundreds of thousands of dollars in cash into several accounts over the same time period. McGrirr was also collecting funds from the Federal Government through CERB payments.

McGirr, Elevated Prairies Inc. and the company’s director, 6440780 Manitoba Ltd., and two credit unions that issued mortgages on the properties were also named as defendants in the criminal property forfeiture lawsuit filed by the Manitoba government.

Facing the Furnace of  Inner and Outer Purification

By BERNHARD GUENTHER

From a geopolitical perspective, the current chaos in France is by design. It’s been created and building up for a long time. It is not “bad politics” or just people upset at the police killing a teenager. It’s a classical case of the Hegelian Dialect: Problem – Reaction – Solution.

Michael O’Fallon summarized well:

“1. Create the problem: allow hundreds of thousands of undocumented young men into your nation. Coordinate an insurrection/rebellion. Arm the insurrection. Disempower police and plant the seeds for potential chaos.

  1. Oraganic Reaction: Unarmed French citizens begin to resist but are beaten and shot. French drivers are being pulled out of their cars and beaten. The French begin to rise up but are outgunned and unarmed.
  1. Solution: French military moves in to quell the insurrection/rebellion. Revolutionaries are embedded within towns, and house-to-house combat occurs. Revolution is quelled, but a suspension of civil liberties is enforced. Rights disappear, and “safety” is enforced.

Meanwhile, several other coordinated uprisings are sparked across Europe.

European nations begin to point towards Hungary as the solution – but – Hungary is a puppet state of China.

The surveillance state will be seen as the answer. Create Chaos, then create the new order out of the chaos. Because chaos is a ladder…”

The forced multi-culturalism and immigration via open border policy [under the virtue pretense of helping people] are by design to destroy the nation-states to make room for the Great Reset and a World government. It’s been building for decades. It’s nothing new for the ones with eyes to see. You see it all over in Europe, and they are trying the same in the US.

The ongoing process of mass immigration will create a real far-right white supremacist/nationalist movement to “save the white race” [as opposed to the fake “far right” nonsense you hear on MSM where anyone questioning the official narrative is called  “right-wing.”] It is already happening. Michael Tsarion warned about it a few years ago as well. It’s by design, too, and many people have fallen for that trap as well in a knee-jerk reaction as they take the white nationalist bait along with a revival of a very dogmatic traditional medieval neo-Christianity, trying to go back to the past.

But there is no return to some nostalgic past.

The PTB (powers that be manipulating both sides (left and right) from behind the scenes) want maximum polarization for maximum chaos and maximum loosh frequency on an occult level. It’s a classical Divide & Conquer technique.

But there is something bigger happening way beyond the control of the matrix forces or our little egoic will based on cultural and social programming and the trap of identification. It is beyond geo-political conspiracies and 3D manifestations of the matrix forces. There are bigger cycles and forces pushing us through the evolutionary furnace on a personal and collective level.

As I wrote about last year in my article How To Navigate This Time Of Transition And The Birth Of A New Era:

The accelerating energies will intensify during these coming years as the alchemical fire is expanding exponentially, fueled by the friction of seemingly opposing forces working through us and in the world.

Anyone who keeps clinging to any political/religious/social systems, sides, and ideologies [any “-ism,” including anarchism, the dual opposite of statism] and is only externally fixated on fighting the “shadows on the wall” of the 3D Matrix, engaging in mechanical reactionary activism, trying to “fix” the system or “save” the world (externalizing the process), or is waiting for a “savior” (technological/political/spiritual) will have a tough time.

Until suffering forces them to let go, face themselves, work on themselves, and surrender to the Divine – or they will disintegrate, not being able to withstand the Plutonian pressure of necessary [divine] evolution and intervention.

What is asked of us is way bigger than creating a new system of government or only striving for sovereignty and decentralization externally. This transition is about the necessity for a quantum leap in the evolution of consciousness and the need to spiritualize our being.

It is about our INNER alignment to the Divine, transcending the mental egoic consciousness rooted in the age of materialism. Otherwise, everything will disintegrate again and again until we get the “message.”

The old needs to die before the new can emerge – most of all, the death of the conditioned and programmed false personality that we identify with (mistaking it for the true Self)

All our wounds and traumas accumulated over lifetimes need to be healed and transmuted via this internal alchemical process [transmuting lead [matter/ego] into gold [spirit/soul being], resulting in the necessary disillusionment to ignite the fire within and “grow the soul” of this often difficult transformative process.

Ego-identification is a trauma response in itself, the “original sin/wound” and “fall from Eden” – the illusory separation from God – hence everyone is “traumatized.”

From lead to gold, we aim to be re-born into the true Self [which is the esoteric alchemical inner process of the “second birth” in the esoteric Christian tradition] and eventually transcend and transform death itself to embody the Divine Gnostic Being we’re destined to become in a far distant future; no more half human-half animal as we are now, subject to lower nature desires (lust, greed, power, which the adverse forces feed off through us), carnal love, disease, aging, and death while the divine force will transform the earth as well for there is no escape to any “heaven out there.”

Only the corrupted dogmatic religions promise an imaginary paradise in the afterlife based on the “savior program.” But the task is to transform ourselves and the world – not escape it.

However, we can’t skip any steps in this inner transformation and necessary work over lifetimes. It is very tempting to engage in spiritual bypassing, getting lost in New Age fast-food spirituality, and over-estimate your level of being, lying to yourself that you have already “ascended to 5D” or “awakened” in the true meaning of the word.

Moreover, things will never improve by themselves, nor by trying to fix things externally or desperately trying to find a “safe place” in the world, getting into materialistic survival mode.

As Rudolf Steiner and The Mother mentioned below and many other enlightened beings have tried to convey to us for hundreds and thousands of years, we need to bring forth a true and grounded spirituality within ourselves, i.e., consciously engage in The Great Work.

Godspeed.

Bernhard Guenther

“Everything depends upon insight into the Spirit that is lying hidden in European and American culture — the Spirit from which men flee, which for the sake of ease they would fain avoid, but which alone can set the feet of humanity on the path of ascent.

People like to put their heads in the sand, saying that things will improve of themselves. No, they will not. The hour of a great decision has struck. Either men will resolve to bring forth the spirituality of which I have spoken, or the decline of the West is inevitable. Hopes and fatalistic longings for things to right themselves are of no avail.

Once and forever, man has passed into the epoch when he must manipulate his powers out of his own free will. In other words: it is for men themselves to decide for or against spirituality. If the decision is positive, progress will be possible; if not, the doom of the West is sealed, and in the wake of dire catastrophes, the further evolution of humanity will take a course undreamed of today.

Those who would strive for true insight into these matters should not, nay dare not, neglect the study of the life of soul in mankind at large, and in the different peoples, especially of East and West.”

– Rudolf Steiner

——-

“At the moment, we are at a decisive turning point in the history of the earth, once again. From every side, I am asked, “What is going to happen?”

Everywhere there is anguish, expectation, and fear. “What is going to happen?”

There is only one reply: “If only man could consent to be spiritualized.”

And perhaps it would be enough if some individuals became pure gold, for this would be enough to change the course of events. We are faced with this necessity in a very urgent way.

This courage, this heroism which the Divine wants of us, why not use it to fight against one’s own difficulties, one’s own imperfections, one’s own obscurities?

Why not heroically face the furnace of inner purification so that it does not become necessary to pass once more through one of those terrible, gigantic destructions which plunge an entire civilization into darkness?

This is the problem before us. It is for each one to solve it in his own way.”

– The Mother Mirra Alfassa

We are in the midst of a death of an old era and the birth of a new one. What happens next is of critical importance because it will be the seed of the next cycle of this drama that we call Planet Earth. In his video, I talk about what this “Time of Transition” is really all about and how it affects us individually and collectively:

OU x PlantEdg: A Focus on Cannabis Education

OU x PlantEdg: A Focus on Cannabis Education

Oaksterdam University prides itself on providing the highest quality training in the cannabis industry. Our newest educational partnership has OU “training the trainers” with PlantEdg

Based in Los Angeles, PlantEdg teams up with brands to provide cannabis education to consumers at dispensaries and cannabis-related events.

Loely Burgos, the founder of PlantEdg, says she is eager to join forces with Oaksterdam to help spread the word about OU’s programs, co-host educational events, and hire OU alumni.

Obviously, our missions and goals are aligned when it comes to education,” Burgos says. “I’m looking forward to a long partnership.”

Loely’s Cannabis Journey and Passion for Education

Loely’s journey with cannabis began in 2017 when she decided to wean herself off several medications, including antidepressants. She takes pride in being pharmaceutical-free today and attributes this transformation to discovering the healing properties of cannabis. Coming from a conservative background, Loely initially felt she had to conceal her use of the plant.

“At that time I was living ‘behind the leaf,’” she explains.

A turning point came when Loely was faced with taking care of a woman battling a terminal illness. Cannabis provided the young mom with relief before she passed away, and Loely became dedicated to educating others about medicinal uses of the plant.

“That started me down the divine process of letting go of stigmas,” Loely says. “She was so grateful, and that led me to understand I really wanted to work in cannabis and have facetime with patients.”

Loely entered the industry as a brand ambassador for Heavy Hitters, and after a few months of learning the ropes, became an independent contractor repping brands like Brite Labs and Tikun.

“I said ‘yes’ to every job that I was asked to do in Southern California. I went up to Santa Cruz, down to San Diego, through the desert. I never said ‘no’,” she says. “I loved being in the shops, getting to know the budtenders, the customers, and the community. I’m known as the education lady when I walk through the door.”

Becoming an Entrepreneur with PlantEdg

In 2020, Loely took the next step in her cannabis career by launching PlantEdg. The company functions as an agency of sorts, providing field marketing, educational workshops, and field marketing reps to help get the word out about cannabis products far and wide.

“We’re focused on consumer education work with brands who don’t have collateral to hire an in-house team,” she explains. “We have a network of independent contractors who are all veterans in industry — budtenders, cultivators, and extractors.”

Their goal is to provide education, share the joy of cannabis, and bridge the gap between the industry and individuals aspiring to enter it.

Expanding Cannabis Education with Oaksterdam

PlantEdg’s partnership with Oaksterdam opens new avenues for expanding its educational initiatives. Loely will refer her contractors to Oaksterdam’s online classes, while tapping into Oaksterdam’s alumni network to recruit new PlantEdg team members.

She also hopes to relaunch Cannabis 101 Workshops in conjunction with Oaksterdam. The workshops aim to educate consumers in dispensaries about various cannabis-related topics, such as cannabinoids, terpenes, delivery methods, and more. By empowering consumers with knowledge, PlantEdg and Oaksterdam strive to eliminate misconceptions and ensure informed cannabis purchases.

Preserving the Legacy of Cannabis

Loely understands the importance of preserving the legacy of cannabis and ensuring that younger generations comprehend its history.

“We want younger kids to know it wasn’t always like this,” she says. “They need to understand the journey.”

She acknowledges the pivotal role that organizations like NORML and individuals like Cannabis Attorney Bruce Margolin have played in shaping the current state of cannabis. She believes there is still work to be done and is dedicated to educating others about the past to appreciate the present.

Aligned Values and Respect for the Culture

Loely’s personal journey and passion for education have led her to create a network of like-minded individuals dedicated to providing valuable cannabis knowledge. Through PlantEdg, they connect with dispensaries, brands, and consumers, staying at the forefront of industry developments. Their commitment to maintaining certified field marketing representatives ensures that they offer the most up-to-date and relevant information to those seeking guidance.

What captivates Loely the most about Oaksterdam is its commitment to the philosophy that “slow and steady wins the race.” She admires how Oaksterdam aligns itself with industry leaders and has a long legacy of advocacy and social justice.

This shared value system resonates with her.

“We’re not trying to be trendy. We respect the culture,” she says.

420 with CNW — Montana Legislators Override Cannabis Tax Distribution Bill Veto

image

Last week, lawmakers in Montana defied Governor Greg Gianforte’s veto yet again, this time overriding an appropriations bill that contains provisions for directing cannabis tax funds to a program aimed at enhancing habitats. The Montana Wildlife Federation, the Montana Association of Counties and Wild Montana all expressed their approval of the legislature’s decision to override Gianforte’s veto of HB 868, the appropriations bill.

The groups are currently suing the state’s secretary and Gianforte because of the governor’s veto of SB 442. The bill, which enjoyed widespread support, seeks to redistribute revenue from Montana’s cannabis tax toward county road funding, the Wildlife Habitat Improvement Program, the Habitat Montana program and other initiatives. Additionally, it aims to modify the structure established by lawmakers during the 2021 session.

In his veto letter for SB 442, which coincided with the Senate’s adjournment on May 2, 2023, Gianforte criticized the bill for not including an appropriation and therefore rendering it ineffective. However, supporters of HB 868 argued on the day of the veto and in the subsequent weeks that the bill included provisions for appropriating funds to SB 442.

An analysis conducted by the Program Planning and Budget Office confirmed that HB 868 indeed contained an appropriation for SB 442. However, it also noted that the inclusion of this language, along with coordinating amendments, seemed to fall outside the bill’s intended scope. As a result, the amendments and statutory appropriation appeared to be invalid.

Senator Mike Lang, the bill’s sponsor, along with the groups involved in its development, have maintained that the governor’s SB 442 veto was inappropriate. They argue that since the bill was not read on the Senate rostrum before the adjournment vote, legislators should be allowed to attempt an override through a poll.

The Montana Association of Counties filed a lawsuit against Gianforte and Christi Jacobsen, the state’s secretary, on June 7, 2023, seeking a court order to enable the legislature to do a poll override vote or to declare the bill as law due to alleged procedural violations by Gianforte.

The Montana Wildlife Federation and Wild Montana also filed lawsuits against Jacobsen and Gianforte on the same day. Their lawsuit sought the judge to order Gianforte to give Jacobsen the veto so that she could give lawmakers a poll on a veto override.

There is no established hearing date for either lawsuit. According to court documents, the plaintiffs’ lawyers are requesting subpoenas for Jacobsen and Gianforte in both cases.

But the associations expressed their satisfaction with the legislature’s decision to overturn HB 868. To override Gianforte’s veto, the override poll needed two-thirds of the votes in both the House and the Senate, which it received with 72 votes in the former and 35 in the latter. Since the end of the session, lawmakers have overridden four vetoes.

As the recreational cannabis market stabilizes in the state, we could see the mushrooming of various ancillary companies similar to Advanced Container Technologies Inc. (OTC: ACTX) rising up to the opportunity presented by the needs of cannabis firms.

NOTE TO INVESTORS: The latest news and updates relating to Advanced Container Technologies Inc. (OTC: ACTX) are available in the company’s newsroom at https://cnw.fm/ACTX

Australia Starts Implementing Law That Legalized Psychedelic Therapy

Several months after traditionally conservative medical regulators in Australia approved psychedelic-assisted therapy, the country has begun implementing its landmark psychedelics law. The country’s medicine regulator approved the use of psilocybin (magic mushrooms) to alleviate treatment-resistant depression along with MDMA or ecstasy to treat post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

With the law taking effect July 1, 2023, Australia becomes the first country in the world to reclassify hallucinogenics as a medicine at the national level. These psychedelic reform efforts in Australia come at a time when researchers around the world are studying psychedelics with higher frequency and seeing increasingly positive results.

Research into psychedelics may be a relatively new field, but what scientists have found already is incredibly encouraging. Various psychedelics seem to be capable of treating a plethora of mental disorders with relative safety and efficacy, providing long-term results at minimal doses and with few side effects. As the mental-health field has been in dire need of a shot in the arm for decades, the research has drawn a lot of public and investor interest. Psychedelics are poised to be the game changer that finally allows people to meaningfully address their mental health conditions.

Regulators in Australia moved to legalize certain psychedelics for medical use to allow mental-health patients access to a potentially revolutionary treatment. However, with all the hype surrounding hallucinogenics for mental health, medical organizations are urging people to exercise caution before jumping on the psychedelics bandwagon.

Addiction counselor Marjan Beaugeois was one of the first Australians to benefit from psychedelic-assisted therapy. After a series of deaths in the family, Beaugeois plunged into a severe depression that left her “zombie-like and unable to self-soothe or cry.”

With no prior history of alcohol or drug use, she was hesitant to try psychedelics to treat her condition. But with conventional therapies failing to offer her any relief, Beaugeois booked herself for several psilocybin-assisted therapy sessions. She could finally feel joy and smile just three sessions later, Beaugeois said.

Like Beaugeois, many other Australians are poised to benefit from psychedelic-assisted therapies. David Nutt, head of neuropsychopharmacology at the UK’s Imperial College, praised Australia’s psychedelic efforts and said that the country was leading the world in psychedelic innovation.

Fellow Brit, psychiatrist, and psychedelic researcher Dr. Ben Sessa also congratulated Australia on its efforts and said that the “global psychedelic spotlight” shines in the country. Sessa will travel to Australia and spend the next year traversing the country and delivering a psychedelic training program.

The move by Australia to permit psychedelic treatments gives enterprises such as Field Trip Health Ltd. (OTC: FTHWF) (TSX: FTHW) validation for the tireless efforts they are investing in coming up with standardized and approved treatments from hallucinogens.
