Fred will talk about what the ISO 50001 standard is, its benefits, examine some business case studies and also discuss the financial assistance the Canadian government provides, through Natural Resources Canada (NRCan), to those organizations that implement and certify to ISO 50001.

In his capacity as project manager Robert Heikens deals with, amongst others, technical and business administrative issues. He has a wide knowledge of energy-technical issues and has worked as project manager in the field of (rest)thermal projects and CHP (Combined Heat & Power). Due to his experience and network abroad, Robert is also involved in developing (international) feasibility studies and projects.
Michael has worked in the field of environmental engineering for over 15 years. His consulting career has included managing projects in the areas of rural development approvals, on-site wastewater, and hydrogeological studies for clients from the private, industrial, commercial, and municipal sectors.
Michael’s expertise includes design, inspection, and monitoring of large on-site wastewater disposal systems for residential, commercial, and industrial applications; completion of rural development approval studies; hydrogeological investigations for rural water supplies and water balance studies; and compliance reporting for regulated activities.
Having majored in Food science, Mehdi worked in food industry for more than a decade in various roles and disciplines from process control to quality assurance. He also directed regulatory affairs consulting firm serving food processing companies. Then he pursued his Master and PhD programs in Chemical Engineering at the University of Toronto (2018). His focus of research revolves around designing and developing lipid-based delivery systems for pharmaceuticals and nutraceuticals. He has presented his findings in several domestic and international conferences. His works has led to creating novel IP-protected nano-encapsulated and micro-encapsulated drug delivery systems in liquid, gel and powder forms. These microemulsion-based delivery systems can be used for producing highly bio-available, water-soluble medical and edible cannabis.
Through his expertise in organic synthesis, biochemistry, assay development, proteomics, and analytical chemistry, Dr. Jonathan Vaught, Founder and CEO of Front Range Biosciences, brings widely used agriculture and biotech methods to cannabis cultivation through tissue culture cloning. Prior to founding Front Range Biosciences, Dr. Vaught served as the Director of Assay Development for Velocity Sciences, and Senior Scientist for Beacon Biotechnology and SomaLogic.
Geoff Brown is the Director of Agronomic IQ, the most advanced temperature and humidity control equipment in the grow room industry. As one of North America’s leading authorities on HVAC for grow rooms, Geoff participates in various advisory boards in the cannabis industry and is a contributing member to The American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) X653 guideline “Heating, Ventilating, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) for Indoor Plant Environments without Sunlight”, a joint venture project with the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE).

Amanda Ross is an associate with Cooper, Sandler, Shime & Bergman LLP. Ms. Ross’s primary area of practice is criminal law at both the trial and appellate levels. She represents clients on variety of matters before the criminal courts, including fraud and other white-collar crime, murder, aggravated and sex assault, weapons offenses, drug offences, and driving offenses. She has experience at every level of court in Ontario, including at the Ontario Court of Appeal and Supreme Court of Canada.
