Adel Zarei

Dr. Zarei holds a Ph.D. degree from the Institute of Biology, Leiden University, The Netherlands. The studies described in his thesis are focused on the molecular mechanisms that control defense and secondary metabolism in plants. Adel has worked as a Research Associate in the Department of Plant Agriculture, University of Guelph for 10 years, investigating the stress physiology in plants. Adel’s primary interest is in plant secondary metabolites in which many of them have pharmaceutical values. Adel migrated to the Cannabis industry as a Scientific Advisor and Cannabis Micropropagation Expert in 2016. He designed and established multiple Cannabis Micropropagation labs for Licence Holders of Cannabis Production. In 2020, he received a Government grant to develop cannabis micropropagation technique at the commercial scale, the results of this research were published in a peer-reviewed journal “In Vitro Cellular and Developmental Biology-Plant” (https://doi.org/10.1007/s11627-021-10167-3). Currently, Adel is overseeing Safari Flower Micropropagation lab to produce clean cannabis plants. During his scientific career, he published over twenty-one peer-reviewed articles on plant stress physiology, secondary metabolites, and plant pathology.
