Chris Crosbie

Chris Crosbie’s journey in the commercial cannabis industry commenced in 2008 while pursuing his education and residing in California during the Proposition 215 era, a pivotal period for medical cannabis within the state. During this time, Chris initiated a medical collective dedicated to cultivating cannabis for patients and distributing surplus medicine. He also played a pioneering role by establishing one of the initial delivery services listed on Weedmaps in the Inland Empire region of California.

Upon completing his university studies, Chris returned to St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador (NL), where he laid the foundation for Atlantic Cultivation in 2017. Atlantic Cultivation distinguished itself as one of the first and, at that time, the only company to apply for a cultivation and processing license in the province. This strategic move coincided with Canada’s impending recreational cannabis legalization.

Atlantic Cultivation collaborated closely with the provincial government’s Industry Energy & Technology department and inked a contract that involved community development and job creation. As part of this agreement, Atlantic Cultivation was granted retail licenses even as its cultivation facility was still undergoing construction, with the anticipation of receiving initial licensing in 2018-19.

Today, Atlantic Cultivation’s state-of-the-art facility operates at maximum capacity and boasts a total of eight retail locations spread across Newfoundland and Labrador. In terms of employment, the company has grown to encompass a workforce of more than 170 individuals within the province. Remarkably, their retail network has emerged as the highest-grossing cannabis retail entity in Atlantic Canada.

Atlantic Cultivation’s cultivation and processing facility showcases a diverse product portfolio, encompassing more than 420 active offerings distributed throughout Canada. Notably, both the retail network and individual retail locations have achieved profitability. In addition, the facility responsible for cannabis cultivation and processing operates at a profit, marking Atlantic Cultivation as one of the pioneering cannabis companies in Canada to consistently generate monthly and quarterly profits.

Chris and his dedicated team attribute this remarkable success to the company’s unwavering commitment to its core values. Atlantic Cultivation places an overarching emphasis on quality, community, and an infusion of enjoyment into all facets of their operation. Each and every one of its employees shares this commitment and embodies these values, contributing to the company’s ongoing achievements
