Dr. Paul Heine is an environmental and atmospheric chemist with expertise in the detection, transformation, and behaviour of trace volatile compounds. He completed his PhD in Environmental Chemistry at the University of British Columbia, where he investigated the atmospheric cycling of volatile selenium species using advanced analytical tools such as PTR-MS and custom sampling systems. He is now Principal Consultant at Selenide Consulting Inc., working across air quality, geochemistry, and environmental monitoring.
With Controlled Chemistry, Dr. Heine is working on standardizing different cannabis inhalation methods and examining PFAS formation as a potential degradation pathway in cannabis oils. His research applies high-resolution analytical techniques to improve product understanding, consumer safety, and chemical characterization within the cannabis sector.
