Dwayne Bisson born and raised in Nova Scotia began his love affair with Cannabis in 1995. Fast forward to 2018 and Canada is on the brink of legalization. Dwayne knew he had to work in an industry he loved. Joining Canntrust in the early days helped Dwayne refine his commercial cultivation skills and surround himself with like-minded individuals who shared a similar passion for cannabis. Dwayne’s passion exploded and led to the creation of Canada’s first terpene exploratory kit and guide to grade quality by using the senses. Soon after Canntrust created the industry’s first trained sensory panel and Dwayne was chosen to be one of the group leaders. Receiving sensory training from the perfume and food science world opened Dwayne up to the potential of realizing his dream of becoming a cannabis sommelier.
Dwayne’s next chapter started as a Supervisor of Cultivation assisting the teams at Aqualitas and Reef Organic to product success. Dwayne soon moved into the position of Brand Ambassador and Manager of Retail Sales and Education for Reef Organic. Dwayne educated budtenders across Canada on the intricacies of both the brand and cannabis. His love for education is evident in all that he does. Dwayne used his sensory experience to help develop Aqualitas in-house sensory panel and he personally selected the Queen SanG cultivar that won the first Grow Up Cannabis Cup.
Dwayne is very proud to have received his Ganjier certification and this designation has earned him the opportunity to work with companies in Canada to help qualify quality through sensory evaluation. Dwayne has recently judged the Cowboy Cup in Oklahoma and is thrilled to have the opportunity to judge some of Canada’s finest for Grow Up. Today you can find Dwayne working on his business Blaze. Blaze will help licensed producers stand out in a crowded marketplace by crafting unforgettable educational experiences.
