Previous Speaking Engagements at Grow Up:

Kerry Atha

As the Chief Quality, Risk and Compliance Officer for the Jamaican Medical Cannabis Collective (JMCC), Ms. Atha leverages her scientific training and industry expertise to ensure that the cultivation practices, security protocols, manufacturing processes and final product meet international quality standards. Ms. Atha has embarked on an ambitious and industry-leading quality certification program for JMCC to demonstrate and document Jamaica’s ability to deliver world-class medical cannabis. Ms. Atha’s scientific team in Jamaica is conducting its first research study on the efficacy of locally available natural pesticides and will begin JMCC’s R&D cloning program shortly.

Having received both her B.S with Honours and M.S. in Biological Sciences from Stanford University, Ms. Atha has applied that scientific discipline to her consulting engagements across a broad range of industries. Early in her career, she was a consultant to both the U.S. National Air and Space Agency (NASA) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Working with the latter, Ms. Atha helped to investigate the sources and causes of soil and ground water contamination — investigative activities that have proven very useful in her new role with JMCC. Also of significant value are the skills she developed while consulting within other highly regulated and risk-adverse industries, such as financial services, where Ms. Atha developed deep expertise in regulatory compliance, risk mitigation, product development, quality assurance and security.
