Michael is widely considered a leading pioneer in the world of organic fertilizer and natural soil management. He founded Gaia Green Products Ltd. in 1990, with the intent of improving our understanding of the soils we rely on, the impact of our management practices on food quality, and how supporting healthy soil ecology benefits the diverse environments which we grow our food and medicine in. Michael founded the Boundary Organic Producers Association, BOPA, a bioregional organic certification body in the Southern Interior of British Columbia, to support farmers in making the transition to organic and regenerative crop management practices. Michael’s work on BOPAs standards was the template for the Certified Organic Associations of British Columbia, COABC, and later an influencer on the formation of the production standards for the Canadian National Organic Regime. Michael is unwaveringly passionate about integrity and innovation in the organic nutrient market. Gaia Green Products Ltd. recently became part of Greenstar Plant Products Inc.’s family of brands, giving Michael a much greater ability to share his passion through North America and the rest of the world.
