Michael West is a researcher, entrepreneur, author, and adviser to companies engaged in the medical cannabis, adult use cannabis, and hemp farming, extraction and products industries. Since becoming a cannabis patient refugee in 2005, he has worked in both legislative advocacy and business development and research initiatives in CO & the PNW. Mike studied Molecular biochemistry, earned certificates in Renewable energy, Sustainable building, and received a degree in international environmental law at CU Boulder where he established a valuable local base of contacts in academia, regulatory and private sectors. Michael has successfully designed, implemented, and managed commercial operations for investor groups and has helped open 6 Recreational companies, 40+ medical cooperative farms, 4 hemp processing facilities, and 3 infused process manufacturers. In 2012 he moved to Washington to expand research in phytocannabinoids and became an early proponent of Phytocannabinoid pharmacological solutions and patient driven studies now in development in 5 US states & 3 countries. Michael is currently Advising recreational, hemp, medical and research companies in 4 states and 2 countries; Teaching Cannabis Extraction classes through ABC Schools and Tools in Seattle, and after building Embark Health International, a Canadian Federally licensed processor and manufacturer, and organizing the acquisition by BevCanna. Michael is currently Advising, building and licensing Antidote Processing, a Processor helping Micro Producers in the Kootenays. Michael is fascinated with cannabis biochemistry & spends his free time identifying, developing and researching unique chemotrophic cultivars.
