Mike Watt

Mike Watt has some of the deepest and in-depth knowledge of the cleaning industry and all things cleaning of most anyone in the industry. Everything he does is from a journeyman’s perspective and the bottom line with Mike is clean for clean sake. Mike is a strong advocate for the recognition of those who clean for a living and believes that exulting, affirming and dignifying those professionals in the cleaning industry is holistic for health, happiness and protected work environments. His information-intensive training programs and in-depth consulting work detail his unique knowledge in the industry that resonate well for those who work in and are affected by it. Even during a brief talk or keynote, Mike provides the most experienced members of his audience with proven, immediately usable ideas and does so using failure avoidance as his guide or compass. One of Mike’s audience members addressed him to say that “I have been in this industry for 40 years and I have never been presented with so much rich information and knowledge”. His combination of humor and anecdotes drawing from his personal experiences from over 35 years in the cleaning industry.

Mike has been in the cleaning industry his entire life, as a Director of Operations for a Contract Cleaning Company, a General Manager for a Janitorial Supply Organization and his current role as Director of Training and Innovation has seen Mike in almost every cleaning and restoration type of environment and can speak with authority to all aspects of cleaning. Part of Mike’s time in the industry has seen him in Health Care where he has learned all of the principals of disinfection and the requirements for general disinfection as well as spore removal in the case of Cdiff,. He understands well when Health Care Acquired Infections (HAI’s) happen and the consequence it has on those effected and the tax paying public who now have to fund the recovery of those affected with an HAI.

In 2019, Mike was awarded ISSA Canada’s Industry Leadership and Outstanding Contribution for work he has done for the Canadian Cleaning and supply industries. Mike has been a Key Note speaker at Education Facilities Managers Associations for School Boards as well as Long Term Care Associations. A natural speaker with immense experience always makes him a relevant speaker that audiences resonate with and can take away immediate practices to be put into effect to help organizations be better at cleaning and sustain these new levels, in holistic ways.
