THANK YOU TO OUR PARTNERS

Grow Up’s Equity Grants sponsored by OCS is aimed to increase the presence and participation of Black, Indigenous and people of colour-owned brands, and provide opportunities to participate at Grow Up Toronto

Grow Up is thrilled to announce the introduction of the Grow Up Equity Grants, generously sponsored by the Ontario Cannabis Store (OCS). This initiative aims to enhance the visibility and engagement of Black, Indigenous, and people of colour (BIPOC)-owned cannabis brands within the Ontario market, marking a significant step towards inclusivity in the cannabis industry.

About the Equity Grants

Grow Up will provide eight (8) Equity Grants to Ontario-based, BIPOC-owned brands, as part of our ongoing commitment to fostering diversity and representation in the cannabis sector. Sponsored by OCS, these grants are designed to lower the barriers of entry for underrepresented businesses and provide them with a platform at Grow Up’s prestigious tradeshow.

Grant Package Includes:

  • 5′ x 10′ Brand Booth
  • Sampling Add-on
  • One round of Speed Networking
  • Table and 2 chairs
  • Electricity supply
  • Promotion on Grow Up’s website and social media channels

The total value of each grant is approximately $4,200, aimed at providing significant support and exposure for the recipients.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must be an Ontario-based business
  • Brand must operate under a federally authorized LP
  • At least 51% owned and operated by individuals who identify as Black, Indigenous, or a person of colour*
  • Encouraged for businesses facing financial or other barriers to participation

*Criteria adapted from BC’s LDB Indigenous Program; CCAB’s Indigenous Business Support Fund; Government of Canada, ISC’s Set Aside Program; as well as similar criteria found across grant and equity programs involving cannabis businesses.

Selection Process:

Randomized Selection
Choosing recipients for in-kind grants can be challenging when assessing the varying levels of need or merit. A randomized selection process ensures fairness and equality, offering all applicants an equal chance of selection, irrespective of their relationship with Grow Up or our partners. This method aligns with our goal to promote diversity and equal opportunities within the cannabis industry.

A fair and randomized selection process will be employed to choose the grant recipients, ensuring every applicant has an equal opportunity. This approach underscores Grow Up’s commitment to diversity and impartiality in the selection process.
