His experience in recreational cannabis has spanned across multiple states and his understanding goes far beyond just plant care. For more than 25 years, Richard’s practice has primarily been focused on intellectual property law and litigation. Richard has very extensive experience in patent, trademark, copyright and industrial design litigation across a wide variety of industries, including pharmaceuticals, medical devices, cannabis, computing and software, power systems, mining, financial services, music publishing, television and film production, magazine publishing, apparel marketing, beer and wine, restaurants and packaged goods.
Richard has been counsel on many landmark intellectual property cases, particularly before CIPO, in the Federal Court (including the Federal Court of Appeal) and on multiple occasions in the Supreme Court of Canada.
Richard also specializes in intellectual property portfolio management and due diligence and has extensive experience in developing strategies for the development, acquisition, licensing and enforcement of intellectual property of all types, as well as organizing defensive strategies for companies both in anticipation of and in response to allegations of infringement. Richard also provides regulatory advice in respect of pharmaceuticals and medical devices.

Reena is a cultural foodie and cannabis connaisseur, originally born in Toronto but of Trinidadian descent. She spent all of her 20’s earning a living as a social worker in the city of Detroit, Michigan but her interest in food culture would eventually steer her into a permanent career as a Restauranteur. As an open supporter of Cannabis, Reena has been advocating for the benefits all her life and utilises her culinary skills and reach to help positively influence the perceptions associated with Cannabis use. As a young girl, Reena witnessed her grandmother using Cannabis in the making of various salves and remedies while her father battled the law and society for his choice to partake.  Many of her family members were victims to the War on Drugs so her participation in the industry is both personal and political and she sees it as one of the greatest and most ignored civil rights violations of all time Reena has been featured on the CBC’s The Current, Episode “Cooking With Cannabis”, Zoomer Media’s ONE Network, alongside most major Canadian publications including The Globe and Mail, The New York Times, The Canadian Press, Chatelaine, Now Magazine and other cannabis related projects. She is currently the owner / operator of The Limin Coconut , a Caribbean Catering Company and The High Society Supper Club, a Cannabis Catering and Event Group. Reena is also the Volunteer Coordinator for The Campaign for Cannabis Amnesty. Reena currently resides in Hamilton, Ontario with her husband, Louic and their cat Buddy.

Amar has an extensive background in Capital Markets and progressive Real Estate Investment banking experience. He held senior positions at Bank of Montreal (BMO), Royal Bank of Canada (RBC), Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC) before becoming the Executive Vice President and Head of Jones Lang Lasalle’s Debt Capital Markets group where he was the #1 Broker and was awarded the “Top Gun” award in 2015. During his career, Amar, has worked with clients to arrange more than $15 billion in real estate transactions. Amar also founded two organizations – The Commercial Real Estate Lenders Association (Connecting Commercial Real Estate’s Senior professionals through networking events) & Educate Kids ( a charity for orphaned children – www.educate-kids.org). Following his career with large institutions, Amar got the entrepreneurial bug and founded R2 Capital & Capstack Advisory where he continues to help clients finance real estate of all asset classes. As cannabis has become an emerging market in Canada, Amar has focused on helping cannabis clients find financing for their real estate, as traditional lending sources are slowly adapting to this industry. He holds a great pulse on which lending sources are willing to finance cannabis related projects.

Nav is the QA/RA Manager and QAP at Motif Labs, an extraction service provider based out of London, Ontario. He holds a BSc in Biotechnology from the University of Waterloo, and is a graduate of the Regulatory Affairs and Quality Operations program at Seneca College.

Nav holds a diverse range of industry experience having worked in the public, private, and government sectors. He brings with him government experience with Health Canada at the Office of Controlled Substances, Quality Control experience in the Food and Beverage industry with PepsiCo, and most recently as a QPIC with Veterinary Purchasing, a Licensed Dealer of Narcotics and Controlled Substances.

Having led GMP, CFIA, Controlled Substances, and Transport Canada audits, Nav brings the necessary skill set required to lead Motif Labs to achieving EU GMP standards.

Joya Halls brings over a decade of experience in health care and cannabis to her position of Director of Customer Care at Strainprint. With educational training in health sciences, nursing, pharmacy, and cannabinoid medicine, Joya rounds out her portfolio with extensive experience working in medical cannabis as an advocate for patients. A particular focus in her earlier career was working with Veterans within Health Canada’s Licenced Producers, and helping Canada’s Veterans access medical cannabis. She went on to holding management positions within medical cannabis clinics as well as managing one of Canada’s leading Licenced Producers before joining the team as Director of Customer Care at Strainprint.
